We'll never pass up the opportunity to talk about Dark Souls here at GameFront, hugely popular as it is with our community thanks to Mitch, Zac and James' infamous playthroughs on YouTube. So when a mod comes along, especially one as awesome as this, we just need to cover it.
Daughters of Ash is as close to a total conversion as it gets for a Dark Souls mod, and it aims to overhaul the entire game. Created by modder Grimukh, it's been in development for over two years now, and it covers everything from new bosses, gameplay changes and improvements to enemies.
It draws a lot of inspiration from cut content from the game, which makes sense. As such, there are brand new questlines to explore, new NPCs to encounter, and a whole raft of new lore, secrets and items.
Forget what you know about exploring Lordran. New world-changing events, key items, and unexpected pathways await you...
It roughly doubles the amount of content available int he game, according to Grimukh, and although there's no new maps, models, graphics or things of that nature, there is plenty of brand new content within the confines of the existing environment to make it feel like a new experience. It even includes the dwindling HP mechanic from Dark Souls 2.
It's not compatible with Dark Souls Remastered, yet, but eventually it's hoped to bring it to that game too, which would make the definitive Dark Souls experience. In the mean time, you can download the mod for the Prepare to Die edition of the game here.
