This mod reveals Dark Souls 3's true colors

By FileTrekker 5 years ago, last updated 5 years ago

You may never have noticed this before, but did you know that every level of Dark Souls 3 contains some level of color filtering to adjust the appearance of every object in the game? Some areas have a red filter, some a blue, some green, but very seldom do you see the actual color of many objects and textures.

Big deal, right? Well actually, depending on your preference, yes it could be. The Lothric Unfiltered mod from TKGP shows us what the game actually looks like without these color filters, and even though it was possible to tweak the shading effects using ReShade, it was not perfect and hard to get right, and required you to swap presets every time the tint changed. Now, you can see the game in it's actual coloring.

It's not a hugely dramatic change, but as you can see from the screenshots below, it really does make a difference, and gives the game a cleaner, less surreal look, with greys and other colours now popping out much  more against the sky and other environmental features.

This isn't exactly the way the developers intended it, of course, the tint was in place for a reason, but for players who may prefer the cleaner, unfiltered look, you can download the mod here.
