I) Introduction

All Emperor Servitors, Welcome to this mod for Dawn of War Winter assault.

Bored by seeing an ork killing a marine in a firing duel ? Or by seeing chaos marines destroying your base with their sole bolters ? Or by seeing a Land Raider as armoured as a Baneblade ?
Me too, so I've decided to create a mod which aim is to recreate the atmosphere of the 41st millenium battles in a more realistic way than the original DoW game.
To make that real, I finally begun to build a modification based on the TT rules but I wanted to keep the spectacular side of the battles in DoW. 

This version is a sort of beta for the WA version which had been cancelled to concentrate on the Dark Crusade one.
The actual changelog show you some of the changes which had been already applied.
There is no way it shows how the final release will be.

II) Setup

Thanks for having downloaded this mod.

To Install it, it's really simple :
1) Open the archive with an archive reader such as Winrar or Winzip.
2) Extract all files into your Dawn of War directory (Not Dark Crusade)
    which is generally C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War.
3) Launch Winter Assault and click on mod manager.
4) Select "40ktte Project".
5) If you want to change your main loading screen, install the "Engine" folder into your DoW directory.

N.B: If you have the previous version of the folder, just remove it and install the new one.

In addition, I have included the Fallback minimod made by Cuttershane because I think it's a great addition 
for anyone who wants to experience Warhammr 40k. I just want to point out the great idea that Cuttershane 
had by adding his mod in the package. Feel free to use it or not.
 
DONE !! From now on, have no mercy and fight for the Emperor!!

- All weapons' firing rates reviewed to be a little less powerful. Now a common battle cannon takes 8.5 seconds to reload.
- Eldar's weapons reviewed (finally!).
- Morale for all units reviewed and balanced between each races.
- Construction rates, production times of researches, squads and buildings reviewed.
- Costs for weapon's upgrades reviewed from codex's ones.
- Reviewed Eldar abilities - especially for psy powers.

1) Space Marines
a) EBPS-SBPS
- Commander's HPs decreased to 599. He could be joined by a max of 4 veterans. Limited to 1.
- Librarian's HPs decreased to 501. He could be joined by a max of 4 veterans. Limited to 1.
- Chaplain's HPs decreased to 501. He could join SM squads and make them insensible to fear.
   Limited to 1.
- Tactical SM's HPs decreased to 269. Now, they could receive meltagun in replacement of the missile launcher
  (The Melta-gun is a very powerful but short-ranged weapon). New model by the C2C team. 
  Weapons limited to 2. Limited to 6.
- SM Scouts' HPs decreased to 233. They wouldn't have acess to plasma gun or flamer anymore.
  Begin with 4 Scouts at buying but could be upgraded to 10 with 5 snipers. Limited to 6.
- All Sergeants' HPs decreased to be equal to soldier's ones. For instance, a tactical sergeant will have 269 HP as 
  all tactical marines have.
- New devastator unit. Could be upgraded with Lascannon, Heavy Bolter, Missile Launcher or Plasma cannon.
  Weapons limited to 4. Begin with 4 marines at buying but could be upgraded to 9 and a Sergeant.
  Model by the C2C team. Limited to 3.
- SM Terminators' HPs decreased to 305. Could be teleported without having done a research.
  Accessible at Tier2 for normal Terminators whereas Assault ones are available only at Tier3. 
  Could be build in the barracks or in the orbital relay. Now have the "rally squad" ability.
  Limited to 3 for each type (Assault and Normal).
- Apothecary's HPs decreased to 269. Could be added to a command squad leaded by a commander or a librarian.
- New Veteran marines unit.Veteran Marine's HPs are 269. Could be upgraded with power gauntlets, power claws,
   power axes and plasma pistols. Begin at 4 but could be upgraded to 9 marines with a sergeant. Accessible at the 
   Barracks at Tier2. Weapons limited to 4. Limited to 3.
- Predators' HPs decreased to 1705. 2 models : the MKIV Predator Destructor armed with two Heavy Bolters and an 
   Autocannon. And the MKIV Predator Annihilator armed with two lascannons and twinlinked lascannons. The Anti-
   infantry is accessible at Tier2 whereas the anti-tank one is accessible only at Tier3 and you must have done the "heavy 
   armor deployment" research to be able to build one. Now have the "Smoke launchers"and "machine spirit" ability. 
   Limited to 3 for each type. Accessible at the Machine's Cult.
- Rhino's HPs raised to 1570. Limited to 6. Accessible at the Machine's Cult.
- Land Speeder's HPs decreased to 1450. Begin with 1 but could be upgraded to 3 Land Speeders to form a squadron.
   Limited to 3 squadrons. Speed raised. Accessible at the Machine's Cult. Accessible at Tier2.
- Whirlwind's HPs decreased to the rhino one. Now have the "Smoke launchers"  and "machine spirit" ability.

- Dreadnough's HPs decreased to 1680. Now have the "Smoke launchers" ability. Limited to 3 for each type.
   Accessible at Tier2. Accessible at the Machine's Cult.
- Land Raider's HPs decreased to 2030. Now have the "Smoke launchers" ability. Accessible at Tier3 only.
   Limited to 3. You must have done the "heavy armor deployment" research to build. Accessible at the Machine's Cult.

b) Researches and Abilities
- "Marine Requisition" and "Marine Support" researches are accessible at the HQ.
- New Research : "Tanks Killers". Only for the Assault Terminators. Accessible at the armoury.
  Make Terminators more powerful versus armored units and buildings.
- All researches which permited to have uber characters or too much weapons in squads have been deleted.
- The majority of the researches for squads and vehicles are now accessible at the armoury.
- "Orbital Bombardmend" now cost 2000Req and 1200Pow to illustrate the fact that the fleet doesn't bombard 
   if it is not necessary. Accessible at Tier3 for the Commander and the Chaplain. Reload time : 6 minutes.
- "Chaplain healing aura" is absurd. Changed to the power to make the joined squad insensible to fear.

c) Weapons
- All weapons revisited to fit the tabletop ones. New penetration and strengh values.
  Introducing new ones for new units.

2) Orks
a) EBPS-SBPS
- Big Boss' HPs decreased to 653. Could be joined by a max of 10 Armored Nobz.
  Accessible at HQ. Limited to 1 squad. Has the "Waagh power" ability.
- Armored Nob's HPs decreased to 370. Could be added to the Big Boss squad only.
  Limited to 10.
- Armored Nobz squad removed.
- Bad Doc's HPs decreased to 161. Could be added to the Big Boss squad only. 
  Limited to 2.
- Big Mek HPs decreased to 447. Could receive a max of 4 Mek boyz (Nob model).
  Accessible at the Boy Hut. Could repair and build units and structures. Limited to 1.
- Nobz Squad removed
- Slugga Boy's HPs decreased to 161. Could be upgraded with flamers, big shootas and rokkets.
  Weapons limited to 3. Begin with 9 but could be upgraded to 29 with a nob. Limited to 6. 
  Accessible at HQ and Boy Hut.
- Shoota Boy's HPs decreased to 161. Could be upgraded with flamers, big shootas and rokkets.

  ennemy's time. Begin with 10 but could be upgraded to 30 grots with a hunter (Bad Doc model). Accessible at the

- New unit : Kommandos. Ork Kommando's HPs are 161. Begin as slugga boyz are. It's the sole ork squad which 
  is capable of using infiltration. Could be upgraded with flamers, big shootas and rokkets.  Weapons limited to 3.
  Have the "stickkbombs", "super stikkbombs" and "tankbustas bombs" abilities. Begin with 4 but could be upgraded
  to 9 Kommandos with a Nob. Accessible at the HQ. Limited to 2.
- New unit : Burners. Ork Burner's HPs are 161. Could be upgraded with flamers. Weapons limited to 4.
  Accessible at the Boy Hut. Limited to 2. Begin with 4 but could be upgraded to 9 burners with a Nob.
- All Nobz have the "Power of Waagh" ability.

b) Researches and Abilities
- All constructions and researches wouldn't need a minimum amount of ork pop to be built anymore.
- All ork researches have been deleted except : "Big Mek 1", "Power Claws", "Power" and "Req" researches 
  and "Extra Armor". All these are accessible at the Pile o Guns.
- Ork "Power of Waagh!" ability is now accessible to all Nob leaders and Ork Heros without any research
  done. Has also been reviewed.
- The Bad Doc now heals his squadmates.

c) Weapons
- All weapons revisited to fit the tabletop ones. New penetration and strengh values.
  Introducing new ones for new units.

3) Chaos Space Marines
a) EBPS-SBPS
- Chaos Lord's HPs decreased to 629. Could be joined by a max of 19 chosen CSM.
  The squad could receive a Chaos Icon. Limited to 1 squad. Accessible at the HQ at Tier1.
  Could receive skills as Infiltration and/or Furious Charge.
- Chaos Sorcerer's HPs decreased to 501. Could be joined by a max of 19 chosen CSM.
  The squad could receive a Chaos Icon. Limited to 1 squad. Accessible at the HQ at Tier1.
- New unit : Chaos Chosen Terminators. Chosen's HPs are 305. Begin with 4 but could be 
  upgraded to 19 Chaos Chosen Marines. Accessible at Tier2 at the Chaos Temple. Limited to 3.
- New unit : Chaos Chosen Marines. Chosen's HPs are 269. Could be taken as escort for
  Chaos hero units only. Accessible at Tier1. Limited to 28.
- Obliterator's HPs decreased to 390. Begin with 1 but could be upgraded to 3 Obliterators.
  Limited to 1. Accessible at Tier3 at the Chaos Greater Sacrificial Circle. Cannot be deployed
  with teleport. Cannot jump with teleporters or by any other ways.
- New unit : Chaos Havocs. Havoc's HPs are 269. Could receive numerous heavy weapons as 
  Lascannon, Autocannon, Heavy Bolter and Missile Launcher. Weapons limited to 4.
  Begin with 4 but could be upgraded to 9 Havocs and a champion. Could receive skills as Infiltration 
  or Tank Killers. Limited to 3. Accessible at Tier2 at the Chaos Temple.
- Chaos Cultists HPs raised to 137. Begin with 10 but could be upgraded to 20 Cultists. 
  Could receive frag grenades and/or fusion bombs. Could receive skills as Infiltration and/or Furious Charge.
  Accessible at Tier1 at HQ. Limited to 6.
- Chaos Marine's HPs decreased to 269. Begin with 4 but could be upgraded to 19 CSM with a champion.
  Could be upgraded with weapons such as Missile launcher, Heavy Bolter, Flamer and Plasma gun.
  Weapons limited to 2. Limited to 6. Could receive skills as Infiltration, Furious Charge or Tank Killers. 
  Accessible at Tier1 at the Chaos temple. 
- All Chaos squad champions have their HPs reduced to troop ones. For example, for tactical chaos champion,
  his HPs are now equal to 269.
- Chaos Raptor's HPs decreased to 269. Begin with 4 but could be upgraded to 9 Raptors with a champion.
  Could be upgraded with Flamer and Plasma gun. Weapons limited to 3. Could receive skills as Infiltration 
  and/or Furious Charge. Accessible at Tier1 at the Chaos Temple. Limited to 1.
- Khorne's Bloodthirster's HPs decreased to 2550. Accessible at Tier3 at the Chaos Greater Sacrificial Circle.
  Limited to 1.
- Tzeench's Pink Horror's HPs decreased to 157. Accessible at Tier1 at the Chaos Sacrificial Circle. Limited to 6.
- Chaos Demon Prince's HPs are reduced to 1500. Now accessible for Multiplayer and Skirmish games.
  Accessible at Tier3 at the Chaos Greater Sacrificial Circle. Limited to 1.
- Khorne's Berzerker's HPs decreased to 269. Begin with 5 but could be upgraded to 20 Berzerkers.
  Accessible at Tier2 at the Chaos Barracks. Limited to 3.
- Chaos Possessed Marine's HPs decreased to 269. Begin with 5 but could be upgraded to 10 Possessed Marines.

  Lascannons. Have access to the "smoke launcher" ability. Accessible at Tier2 at the Chaos Machine Pit. Limited to 3.
- Chaos Rhino's HPs raised to 1570. Accessible at the Chaos Machine Pit. Limited to 6.
- Chaos Predator's HPs decreased to 1705. Could be upgraded with Twinlinked Lascannons and sides Lascannons.
  Have access to the "smoke launcher" ability. Accessible at Tier2 (but Tier3 for the upgrades) at the Chaos Machine Pit.

b) Researches and Abilities
- All researches have been deleted exept weapon researches for characters, skill researches and some psy powers.
- New research : Tank Killers. Make some weapons more accurate against armored units for Chaos Terminators,
   Chaos Havocs, Heros and Power gauntlets in general.
- Chaos Terminators can use personal teleport without having done any research. Not deployed by teleportation.
- The Demon Prince is available to build after researching the "Demon Prince" research at the Chaos Greater 
  Sacrificial Circle. 
- The Icon Bearer has the unic "Raise Icon" ability. He makes the squad he has joined insensible to fear.

c) Weapons
- All weapons revisited to fit the tabletop ones. New penetration and strengh values.
  Introducing new ones for new units.

4) Imperial Guard
a) EBPS-SBPS
- Colonel's HPs decreased to 515. Could be joined by 4 Guards, 1 Commissar, 1 Priest and 1 Psyker.
  Now could take ressource points. Accessible at Tier1 at the Imperial Guard HQ. Limited to 1.
- Commissar's HPs decreased to 417. Now execute the officer before regular troops. 
  Must be added to the Command Squad first. Can be added to Guard squads if all Commissars have not
  been added to Command Squads. Accessible at Tier1 at the Imperial Guard HQ. Limited to 5.
- Priest's HPs decreased to 417. Must be added to the Command Squad first. Can be added to Guard 
  squads if all Priests have not been added to Command Squads. Accessible at Tier1 at the Imperial Guard HQ.
  Limited to 5.
- Psyker's HPs decreased to 266. Must be added to the Command Squad first. Can be added to Guard squads 
  if all Psykers have not been added to Command Squads. Accessible at Tier1 at the Imperial Guard HQ. Limited to 5.
- Adeptus Mechanicus Enginseer's HPs decreased to 249. Limited to 6.
- Vindicare Assassin's HPs raised to 417. Accessible at Tier1 at the Imperial Guard HQ. You have to make the
  research "Adeptus Assassinorum's help" to be able to build one. 
- New unit : Platoon Command Squad. Lieutenant's HPs are 266. Could be joined by 4 Guards, 1 Commissar,
  1 Priest and 1 Psyker. Accessible at Tier1 at the Imperial Guard HQ if you have built at least 2 IG squad. Limited to 3.
- Imperial Guard's HPs raised to 177. Begin with 9 IG but could be upgraded with one sergeant. Could be upgraded 
  with 1 Plasma gun or 1 Grenade launcher . Accessible at Tier1 at the Barracks. Limited to 15.
- New unit : Imperial guard Rookies. Rookie's HPs are 177. Rookies are less accurate than better trained Guards.
  Begin with 25 Rookies. Accessible at Tier1 at the Barracks. Limited to 6.
- Imperial Stormtrooper's HPs decreased to 249. Begin with 4 but could be upgraded to 9 stormtoopers with a sergeant.
  Could be upgraded with Flamer, Plasma gun, Grenade launcher or Melta gun. Weapons limited to 2.
  Accessible at Tier2 at the Barracks. You must having done the "stormtroopers regiment" research to be able to buid one.
  Deployed by a Valkyrie. Could use infiltration. Limited to 3. Valkyrie deepstrike by C2C team.

- All absurd researches such as "Ogryn's bayonets" have been deleted.
- All Vehicle addons have been deleted, now just one research by vehicle is necessary.
- New research : "Basilisk Command" - Permit to have access to the Basilisk Artillery tank.
- New research : "Leman Russ Command" - Permit to have access to the Leman Russ Battle Tank.
- New research : "Leman Russ Conqueror Command" - Permit to have access to the Leman Russ Conqueror Battle Tank.
- New research : "Leman Russ Exterminator Command" - Permit to have access to the Leman Russ Exterminator Battle Tank.
- New research : "Leman Russ Demolisher Command" - Permit to have access to the Leman Russ Demolisher Siege Tank.
- New research : "Leman Russ Vanquisher Command" - Permit to have access to the Leman Russ Vanquisher Tank Hunter.
- New research : "Super Heavy Support Command"- Permit to have access to the Baneblade Super Heavy Battle Tank.
- New research : "Abhumans Regiment" - Permit to have access to the Ogryns.
- New research : "stormtroopers regiment" - Permit to have access to the Stormtroopers/Kasrkins.
- Stormtroopers' and Veterans abilities don't need any research to be used.
- I prefer to warn you ; don't be surprised if commissars executes your general. After all, he only does his job...
- Priest "Righteous fury" ability now makes the command squad members more powerful at close combat.

- Farseer's HPs decreased to 545. Could be joined by a max of 5 Warlocks. Could be upgraded with a few psy
  powers. Accessible at the Eldar HQ. Limited to 1.
- Warlock's HPs decreased to 320. Could be added to the farseer's squad only. Limited to 5
- Khaine's Avatar HPs decreased to 2400. Accessible at the Aspect Portal after having done a research. Limited to 1.
- Eldar Guardian's HPs decreased to 177. Begin with 4 but could be upgraded to 20 Guardians plus a grav platform.
  Accessible at the Eldar HQ. Limited to 6.
- Ranger's HPs decreased to 177. Begin with 3 but could be upgraded to 10 Rangers. Accessible at the Eldar Webway gate.
- Banshee's HPs decreased to 193. Begin with 4 but could be upgraded to 9 Banshees with an Exarch. Accessible at the
  Eldar Aspect Portal. Limited to 3.
- All Aspect Warriors Exarchs have their HPs decreased to 249.
- Fire Dragon's HPs decreased to 193. Begin with 4 but could be upgraded to 9 Fire Dragons with an Exarch.
  Accessible at the Eldar Aspect Portal. Limited to 3.
- Warp Spider's HPs decreased to 249. Begin with 4 but could be upgraded to 9 War Spiders with an Exarch.
  Accessible at the Eldar Aspect Portal. Limited to 3.
- Dark Reaper's HPs decreased to 193. Begin with 4 but could be upgraded to 9 Dark Reapers with an Exarch.
  Accessible at the Eldar Aspect Portal. Limited to 3.
- Eldar Wraithlord's HPs decreased to 1500. Could be upgraded with a Brightlance. Accessible at the Eldar Vehicle
  Portal. Limited to 3.
- Eldar Falcon's HPS decreased to 1680. Could be upgraded with a Starcannon. Accessible at the Eldar Vehicle

- Eldar Fire Prism's HPs decresed to 1680. Accessible at the Eldar Vehicle Portal. Limited to 3.
- Eldar Vyper's HPs decreased to 1450. Begin with 1 but could be upgraded to 3 Vypers to form a squadron.

IV) Known bugs

- I warn you : Don't play with too much ork players. Orks armies counts numerous warriors ; it could cause problems with 
some computer configurations. Don't play with more than 2-3 ork armies (for the strongest PCs).
- The game could crash and return to desktop at the destruction of the Ork's HQ. I don't know how to fix it.
- The game doesn't want to remember your precedent settings for skirmish. Don't know why...
- Some strange texture bug : Space marines sergeants, assault marines, dreadnoughs and bikers have their army colors replaced 
by the Imperial Guard ones if some IG players participates at the game...

All the files from other mods are used "under license" thanks to the agreement of their respective owners who have been quoted above.

In conclusion

To my mind, this mod is the more accurate to fit the GW's Tabletop Game. I think you have never seen such an
Ork Waaagh! in Dawn of War... What is this ridiculous expensive "Earthshaker bomb" ability? Now, see what the Basilisk really is and why it is feared by many troops... I have so many examples like that which shows that the playing experience is so different from the original one.
So, Tabletop players, enjoy this mod to see your models go to life! And thank you for all modders who have have permitted me to use their models, sounds or fx files.
