I like how this poll is a direct result of the last poll. Who says us humans can't recycle? Anyway, I played TT a while before DoW even existed and being a big C&C fan I decided to try it out. I played the game once and I said "WTF is C&C?" From then on I've been a big DoW fan, though C&C 3 is pretty good. I still prefer TT though, some of the things in DoW just don't seem right after you've tried TT, and the other way around now that I think of it. Hey, I just came up with a poll idea: After trying both Tabletop and Dawn of War which seems less broken? Tabletop Dawn of War WTF? Broken? Other(explain) Sorry bout the long post. Praise the Emperor and obey the Fist of Dorn!

#9 - Posted by: Strybjorn (Member) on 09-07-2007 at 14:49
Well, I first started playing WH40k on the tabletop. I still have my first army. Ragnar Blackmane's Space Wolves. Then, I bought some bad guys for them to fight. Got my hands on a Chaos Space marine army that was heavy on Khorn forces. After that, got some Dark Angel "allies" for my Space Wolves. Finally, I got a Tau army that needs to be painted. Oh wait, forgot about the Imperial Guard Armored Company I've started. But anyways, I was always a big fan of C&C and I saw DoW in one of my White Dwarfs and I was sold immediately. I got my way into the beta test, got the demo, and reserved it at Gamestop. Been playing ever since. DoW you

i learned about dawn of war when my friend first brought it over to our sleep over he tried to install the god edition on it but i didnt have enough ram (ps this is before i became a computer freak askin my parents for like 2.11 GHZ) so i got the minimum requirments saw the intro with my dad sayin my bro cant play this lol and i loved it since then i found out about the TT from another friend.:):D

#15 - Posted by: Zke (Member) on 09-07-2007 at 17:41
I saw it @ E3, so I guess I can't really pick any of those. They didn't even have a demo, it was just a cinematic of one unit attacking another, then moving on. Ah, those were the days...

#16 - Posted by: sanjit (Member) on 09-07-2007 at 20:24

I saw the intro movie and I knew I just had to have it. A week later, i got Dark Crusade.

 #25 - Posted by: Firewarrior1705 (Member) on 09-08-2007 at 00:27
well, it would seem a bit odd but I've started playing DOW with the Dark Crusade version. I've found out about it from a friend and when I got it, my first race with which I began playing was tau and I immediately feel in love with their sheer amount of ranged weaponry and high-tech units. Then I began playing with the other races too and I've heard about the original Dow and Winter Assault and now I've got all 3 of them :D

#36 - Posted by: Lanf (Member) on 09-08-2007 at 08:01
I found out about this game when it came free with my copy of company of heroes, it was pretty hard not to find it in the box it came in, otherwise, I'd never even heard of it, and not even being remotely interested in Warhammer, hell, I didn't even know there was a 40K, I thought it was all the same thing.

#37 - Pirated it - Posted by: conscript (Member) on 09-08-2007 at 09:37
Played it for an hour, uninstalled it, drove quickly to store, bought it, loved it for ever and ever.

#38 - Posted by: Grendall (Member) on 09-08-2007 at 10:14
There was no option for "Your Mom", so I didn't vote.

#39 - Posted by: conscript (Member) on 09-08-2007 at 11:50
I forgot to add that I didn't exactly "pirate" it (e.g. didn't use bittorrent or anything like that), it's a program that allows you to download anything uploaded, but you must pay if you pass a size limit.

#40 - None of the above options - Posted by: marneus90 (Member) on 09-08-2007 at 12:45
I saw an advert for it.

 #51 - How I learned about DOW - Posted by: The_Red_Ork (Member) on 09-10-2007 at 12:33
I live in Toronto, Canada. Just west of here, in a city called Oakville, GW has a massive warehouse full of TT game tables, called a "Battle Bunker" (there are about a dozen of these scattered throughout the U.S. and Canada). At the battle bunker, they have a table that is a replica of one of the maps from the original DoW single-player campaign (it's the map with the elevated pumping station). I went there for some TT gaming and remarked that it was one of the most interesting tables I had ever seen. Some redshirt (GW employee) told me that the table was based on a map from a new 40K-based RTS game which had just been released. My head exploded. After cleaning up the mess and reassembling my cranium, I played a game then RAN to the door. I stopped at EB and bought a copy of DoW on my way home.

 #52 - Posted by: The_Red_Ork (Member) on 09-10-2007 at 12:48
I also picked up WA and DC, on the very days they were released.

#53 - Posted by: makeesh (Member) on 09-10-2007 at 13:22

 #54 - AHHHHH - Posted by: Curt5520 (Member) on 09-10-2007 at 22:23
I Agree With Number 2 Anyways Anyone Know What Happend To That WitchHunter Mod??? anyone

 #55 - Posted by: Droids_Rule (Member) on 09-11-2007 at 07:05
I agree with #53, we should have a poll on tabletop players, I know we had one recently but it gave too many options. Why not "Do you play Warhammer 40,000 Tabletop Strategy Game', Yes or No?:p

 #56 - In fact... - Posted by: Zealot2021 (Member) on 09-11-2007 at 23:26
First. there was a bunch of light. and big shiney guys in power armour showed up and were all like, this game doesnt do our universe justice, like lasbolts killing marines, but w/e its fun, play it, the emperor demands it, and so on... so then i saw it on a shelf and picked it up.

#57 - When I first saw it (maybe the most odd) - Posted by: wounded_badger (Member) on 09-12-2007 at 13:59
I saw it advertised in a magazine I saw floating around (gamepro I think) when my Marine Corps Unit was in Fallujah, Iraq (first battle) that it was being released about 6 months or so when I would return home. I got home and in a few months it was going to be on the shelf and I reserved my copy at Best Buy.

 #58 - i collect 40k - Posted by: primarchof_mechmarines (Member) on 09-13-2007 at 13:06

#60 - Posted by: wowza (Member) on 09-14-2007 at 07:55
