who would want to be a ground soldier in the imperial guad? unless your suisidel

 #2 - Posted by: las_shot_in_the_eye (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 11:27
pilot, definitely. Can drop bombs on the poor old infantry and laugh at them as they get blown up. then go back to hq and

#3 - Posted by: BadgerNun (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 11:44
I agree, you're least likely to get killed that way! And if you do die, then it would be HUGE and spectacular - the only way to go.

 #4 - Posted by: Gaunts_Ghost (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 11:44
Seriously, why whould you wanna be in the guard, to the commanders your just a cannon fodder (or a cannon fodder in a shell for tanks and pilots). The only place i might consider going into the imperial guard would be the commander of one of the bigger titans (e.g.warlord)

 #5 - trouble with pilots - Posted by: las_shot_in_the_eye (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 11:50
the only thing is that things could turn nasty if you were shot down in enemy territory and they captured you.. things could go from  to :(

 #6 - Posted by: Grand_Master_Bean (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 12:02
definitely a pilot gotta love flight sim ;) and flying a vulture... wow i wish they were real :)

#7 - Posted by: Chaotyr (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 12:05
Armour division. Guard have the best tanks.

#8 - the question MAY be flawed.... - Posted by: guardsman8 (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 12:06
there are no pilots in the imperial guard, thats the imperial navy. Titans are not in the imperial guard, that is the mechanicus. Engineers, again, not in guard, in the mechanicus. besides when you become a techpriest you are no longer really a person, more of a 50% A.I. 50% human brain in a 90% mechanical body. and not serving is not an option, you either have to serve in some way or they conscript you or kill you if you still say no. your safest bet is joining the clergy, unless they attach you to an imperial guard company for support. so your safest SAFEST bet is to join up....if they draft you then you already know where you would end up.... so go to officer school and be something safe like a drill sergeant training troops on a agri-world.

Well, the not serving option I think is applyable to us non IG lovers. From my nickname is obvious which race I'd like to be a soldier of, so I'd go for a Shas'o in an XV-89 with twin linked plasma rifles, shield generator, black sun filters, recoil suppressors, iridium armor, hard wired drone controller with 2 shield drones and my 2 best friends as my bodyguards, them too in XV-89s with plasma rifle and fusion blaster.

Ground Soldier, keeping things simple

#11 - Posted by: Eldarkings (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 12:37
Enginseer, I've always wonder how being a cog-boy would be, and always ranting about the Ommnissah.... Machine Spirit, may our shots be True! Then again without Engineers, how would the IG fight? With rocks and sticks? They would have no tech and only faith itself.

 #12 - meh - Posted by: General_Hadus (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 12:49
obviously a pilot 'cos I could fly a valkerie over the battlefield and bomb the hell out of cultists and orks. Probably only chance of being shot down would be other aircraft:donut:. Courage and Honour:borg:

 #13 - Posted by: lucasx2 (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 13:08
I prefer to be a ground soldier, and I would like to be a karskrin, and #9 this is about imperial guard and not tau or any other race

 #14 - Posted by: Lone_raven (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 13:09
I voted for Amour division, but after thinking better, I would vote for ground soldier. At least if I'm a ground soldier, I'm not a target for every AT unit. At least being in the infantry, I would have lots of other men to die in my place.

 #15 - hell no - Posted by: sage62 (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 13:11
there is not a chance i would serve in the IG! For starters, they are my second most hated army, next to the oh so exagerrated SM. Besides, if your not an officer in the imperium, your gonna be treated worse than a pile of crap. Look at Commissars, they kill their own men! Sure, they have good vehicles, but it seems hardly worth it to be treated like that. As I am sure anybody who is familiar with my opinion of the armies would know, I would want to be in Eldar or Tau, as they are the coolest:rock:

 #16 - Admral - Posted by: deathsnightmare (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 14:15
Pilot.. but it was alredy stated that the guard does not have piolts in its arsenl of men so Imperial navy is for me, Oficer of course :P It wold kick to command a cruser or capital ship of sorts. even a gunner maby but Captan/ Admiral is the way to go!

 #17 - Posted by: Justin0005 (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 15:22
I would be a ground soldier. DOW makes them seem so weak, but could you imagine being with hundreds of other men laying down a wall of lasgun fire and killing anyone in your way?

 #18 - i am not a coward - Posted by: scottyz23 (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 15:38
lolz i'd join for ground troops. at least i have guts and not a coward like those fly boyz! and besides its not that bad to be a trooper, as long as you listen to wat they (officers) say, you'll be fine.:D

#19 - Posted by: EuphoricAcid (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 15:50
I just wouldnt serve... no matter what you're in, you'll most likely be dead in the first battle of your life.

 #20 - Posted by: Lt_Apollo (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 15:59
i would be a ground solder, i know its suicide but just think about this, if your a pilot yor life expectence is not much better, if your a tech priest you have no life, if your a tank comander then well good for you but do you realy wunt to be pumled buy rockets and take the risk of being burnt alive when your amo gose off. no i would be a infentry man, a comander defently, but an infentry man all the same. with out the comen trooper the war would be lost, it is the combiend strength of millions that win and lose wars, not the armourd might of the mechanicus, not the imperial navy, not the legions of tanks of the guard, but the sheer might of the comen man.

#21 - Posted by: Munich (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 16:12
I would have to be in the Armoured Division but not any vehicle no i would have to use a basilisk Because that way i wont get pumled by rockets cause i to far away and i can earthshaker the shit outta orks and stuff But Still Dark Eldar FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#22 - battle tanx - Posted by: slamhammer (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 16:25
i would have to be in the mechanized divisions. the main reason is im a mechanic in real life and the thought of being in a massive machine with a cannon on it bigger than both my sisters combined and blasting bad guys to little tiny molting bits sounds fantastic! i just love machinery plain and simple GO ARMOURD DIVISIONS!!!!!! and as for #20 i agree with you but we cannot win this war with the common man alone my friend. and yes i know of the risk of being targeted by AT teams.....thats why we have basilisks. the armour divisions of the imperial guard kick @$$!!! go go gadget guardsman :donut:

 #23 - Posted by: Nod71 (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 16:49
o ya FRONT LINE INFANTRY ALL THE WAY just think being in all the death and destruction would be the coolest thing ever being in the armored division is for wusses but hey thats just what i think BORN TO DIE IN BATTLE I LAUGH AT MY FATE!!!

#24 - Officer all the way - Posted by: brother_mitch (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 17:21
Prove myself to be a good leader, get an officer position including those lovely officer swords for good old melee fights, screw the bird boyz and tommy cookers, infantry! Join as a volenteer you go with the best, and not die like the rest.

#25 - Posted by: ZombieStomp (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 18:21
I'd proudly serve in the imperial Guard Ground Force as a soldier. It doesn't really state, what position you would fill, but i would try for a Sniper position, or at commando squad for urban warfare. Besides in the year 40,000 there are so many anti-vehicle weapons a person could carry that i would be to frightened to confine myself inside a metal hull, it could to easily become a tomb.

 #26 - 15# - Posted by: matsta0411 (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 22:33
Lol you sound like little girl, OF COURSE you wouldn't be accepted into the IG because the are the bravest soldiers in the 40k universe.... P.s Infantry division ftw!

 #27 - Posted by: matsta0411 (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 22:36
Oh yeah i was talking to 15# and soz for double post P.s.s Both races what he said are eaither girls (or guys that have vaginas) or alien Things that are to afraid to get the hands dirty... Thats what kroot are for anyways...

 #28 - soldier - Posted by: billyb0yb0b (Member) on 02-13-2008 at 22:56
ground trooper m8 i would love to be in thick of it dnt care if i die just would love to be in the frontlines fighting beside one another, the smell of blood and war in the air, the adrenalin rush while in combat, just moves me!

 #29 - #27 - Posted by: sage62 (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 01:22
#27, for starters, Eldar are not all girls, you obviously do not knwo about them outside of DOW, I always did wonder why almost everybody seems to be girls, but that never bothered me, ALL ELDAR ARE TRAINED TO FIGHT, if you think the Eldar are wusses consider this, An Eldar CIVILIAN can win in a fight against a human SOLDIER, and those are just the Guardians. Fluff wise the Eldar are pretty much the best army, I will give two examples: Howling Banshee scream devastates your nervous system (you know, the one you need to function) 5 or so fire prisms linking their main weapons together could PUNCH A HOLE THROUGH A MONOLITH Also, Tau are not wusses because they don`t believe in melee, frankly, they don`t need too, that is why there are Kroot and Vespid, and in the short time they have been around, they have already surpassed the human armies tech wise. Also, looking at the IG, they ARE NOT BRAVE, there are some brave men amongst them, but there is a reason that there are commissars, and that is to scare the men shitless so they actually fight, take them away and you lose morale and the will to fight, but gain panic and rebellion, such is actually shown in the DC campaign when you kill that commissar (don`t know his name, don`t care about it) the second he dies the men near him rebel and make victory that much easier, next time, learn what the hell you talking about before you start running your mouth

 #30 - Posted by: Cloud_3 (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 01:44
i would want to be a space marine not an IG

 #31 - Posted by: Waaaghboss_Ghazkull (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 03:49
I would prefer Ork-squiggoth-rider! But as not listed here i take the good old medic! You're not always directly at the front, if the enemy breakes through you can surrender to them and join them (if they're not necrons or tyranids...) Because every army needs medics and why killing the enemy ones if they want to join you? And you have some servitors at your side which you can use if they (the enemy) don't needs you. And if your hurt you dont lie around and wait until you die or somebody rescues you, no you go and heal yourself.

 #32 - #29 - Posted by: brother_mitch (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 04:34
5 prisms you say? 1 guard leman russ could do that with there 3 las-cannons :p(if you upgrade the sides and front)

#33 - Posted by: badgut (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 05:59
i don't see airborne in it like commandos kasrykin

 #34 - None, i wouldn't serve! - Posted by: karrara (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 08:33
to all the people that chose none i wouldn't serve. hahahaha you don't got a choice! Now get the safety off that las gun and get your arse up OUT the trench before i shot you.No one disobeys a commissioner!

 #35 - #32 - Posted by: sage62 (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 10:22
#32, 5 was a typo, it was supposed to be 3, which (fluff wise) would kill anything with a single shot, ragardless. Also, Fire Dragons could turn a Leman Russ into a pile of molten slag in about 2 seconds,

 #36 - Posted by: Evil_Fred_dead (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 11:57
Armoured division, I mean have you SEEN the baneblade in action! But i would be a commander at HQ, leaving everyone else to fry.

#37 - Posted by: Eidolon (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 12:05
Medic, can't heal the commander with a tank

 #38 - Posted by: compadict12 (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 13:03
I chose =: Non i wouldnt serve on the basis that id get shot at what ever role i was in, but i would still serve as it be shot if i didnt so..

 #39 - Pilot definetly - Posted by: tysonm1 (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 13:23
I would love to be pilot because all you do is lie back and when you need to go out you got less chance of getting shot down because the enemy is likely to keep eyes on infantry but if you're a medic, you're useless mainly because how could you treat a guy with a bullet wound the size of mexico? Pilots FTW:rock:

#40 - Posted by: conti (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 13:24
Uhh...no. I would be an engineer because I would get to blow the sh!t out of everything. And as for eldar, I think their to pansy. I play traitor guard and the more bloody marines. dark eldar are cool though. I got a 1000 point army of them.

#41 - Posted by: EuphoricAcid (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 13:26
If they tried to make me serve, id get the hell out of there and join the relictors or soul drinkers.

 #42 - Posted by: General_Hoss (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 14:53
and then youd be called a heretic and probably be shot....if not worse but hell...me Armoured Division ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!! GO LEMAN RUSSES

 #43 - Posted by: Deutsch_Guard (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 15:11
I went for armoured division, 'cos I have an armoured compeny for TT, but really I'd prefer to be a Commissar. Commissars are great:)

 #44 - Posted by: FLOW_1 (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 15:39
I hate IG, so I would not join, If I were forced, I run Away to an Eldar Craftworld or Tau colony.

 #45 - Posted by: simeon32x (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 15:52
Basic Training: Four Months. Planetary Transportation: Seven Weeks. Life Expectancy on battle field...Fifteen Hours "Crongratulations son, Ground Infatry made me the man i am today" says the recrutment officer with no legs and a bionic arm as you sign the pappers

#46 - Ground Troopers - Posted by: Methelas (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 15:58
I would rather be a Guardsmen then be a wuss in a tank :p

#47 - Posted by: TheDuhMan (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 17:31
#23 being shot at is NOT COOL it would probably be the most frightening thing of your life, and the 'heroics' you see in war movies and stuff is the #1 way to get killed if you do decide to join the infantry, just do your job and if an opportunity arises that you could be a hero and live, take it as for me, id be in the navy, always loved to fly, dropping bombs on heretics and other scum with little risk of being killed from standard infantry weapons and AT guns, yeah id go with that

 #48 - Wuuse? - Posted by: deathsnightmare (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 19:13
There aint nothing wussy about anny armed forces no matter which army DOW or today! being in a tank and being a wuss just doens work! tanks are sent in to cover the infantrys @$$es meanwile that lage hunkO mettle might as well have a bullseye painted on the side for all the fire it attracts! Aslo the infantry is no laughing matter eather! as far as the IG goes theres a real problem there in how they use men! There is a diffrence between a life spent & lives WASTED! " if you dont charge that three story tall killing machinge i will shoot you!" WTF?? Navy! gigantic hulking craft with hundreds of men and women requierd just to keep it moveing, not to mention the troops stationd on board and fighter piolits on station for defence. mess, mecanical, sensory, and repair crews! If just one of thous ships goes down thowsands of lifes will be lost and manny more stranded on some godforsaken planet with no way home! so each division is equily important with a specific task and role for each so give them the credit they deservie and not call anny of them a wuss!

 #49 - Posted by: matsta0411 (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 21:24
29# Umm for starters Read what im saying before YOU comment (Or guys that have Vaginas) And an eldar citizen would probley end up being burned alive by IG Flash lights before they can evan speak so.... I personly think that The best race would have to be orks, Why you ask? Because they don't care about anyone or anything! (apart from there trusty choppers or shootazzz, Dakka dakka) And they just go around chopping, shooting, eating, shooting, chopping, Drinking, Kick a couple of grots, chopping, chopping Followed by some more shooting and choping oh and Dakka dakka shooting!

 #50 - Actually no - Posted by: sage62 (Member) on 02-14-2008 at 22:03
Um, no it wouldn't, you may have missed the part where their citizens are guardians, because that's kinda the point. #44, that is what I'm talking about. and the main reason that being ground infantry would suck if pretty damn obvious, first of all, gameplay wise they are a joke without a crap-load of 'em, and the ongoing strategy for the IG seems to be "keep sending men till we win. Look, just because you have a lot of men, doesn't mean you have to keep special bullets that kill them with a single shot, stupid commissars. Like i said before, without commissars making sure that they die whether they fight or not, the IG would fall quickly:rock:

 #51 - Posted by: Lobo4u (Member) on 02-15-2008 at 01:06
 Really guys there is no point fighting about which is better cause the 40k universe punch line is *YOU DIE* period lol. But anything I'd be a Medic, do some good before I get blown to bits by artillery fire or hope that its artillery fire that kills me. Hate to think of what sort of **** will happen to me if its Chaos, Dark Eldar. Any of the other races would probably just off me for fun. Heres hoping its Tau that kicks the shit out of my regiment. At least there is a chance of being a POW, living with whats left of the human population on whatever planet the guard was fighting them on OR heal for the greater good in their Human Auxilliary(or Gue'vesa in Tau meaning Human Helper)

 #52 - A little confused... - Posted by: Lone_raven (Member) on 02-15-2008 at 02:35
Can someone explain to me why I can vote for a second time?

#53 - Posted by: badgut (Member) on 02-15-2008 at 07:09
where is the airborne i choose pilot and grab a kasrykin gun and jump from the air into enemy lines

 #54 - Armour Division - Posted by: Commissar_Garcia (Member) on 02-15-2008 at 08:37
Crew any thing from a chimera and BB and if i die ill die wiv a big bang! and nothing can compare to the Armour of the Imperial Guard!

 #55 - No - Posted by: Kevin_ncc_1701 (Member) on 02-15-2008 at 10:08
i wouldn't serve them they die to easily

#56 - Posted by: Vendre (Member) on 02-15-2008 at 11:23
Realy the pilot must be the best. And it is kinda rare that you survive if you crash, and... I would at least have a trusty lasgun to shot myself with if I am about to crash wouldn't I? Its less like to die then.

#57 - Posted by: conti (Member) on 02-15-2008 at 14:25
Sage, are you retarded? I don't use commissars and I've won tournaments wit that army, infact belive it or not eldar and Tau ar the preffered army of my gamesworkshop and I prefer IG Its just the way I go. Japanese people just like Tau and eldar for some reason:D

#58 - Posted by: LankyDread (Member) on 02-15-2008 at 14:28
I think i'd be a pilot, if u dont serve u get shot, and at least being a pilot u get to fly around i a bit, and ur likely to die fast at high speeds, which is better than the other ones

 #59 - U kiddin - Posted by: Zealot2021 (Member) on 02-15-2008 at 18:13
pilots get the shiznit:  A) Flak, flak, flak, anti air, flak flak... B) enemy ships shooting at them all the time. C) how u wanna die, explosive decompression in space? or fiery death to the ground. D) fight chaos, now u got deamons spawing in the air, on your plane, in YOUR cockpit!! Idk, just seems rather... hazerdous... praps a good ole engiseer would be better. of course, maybe im just overreacting.

 #60 - Posted by: crisissuit3 (Member) on 02-16-2008 at 07:15
armour division since it seem safer since your in like 4 feet of armore. plus. eleven barrels of hell baby.

 #61 - ... - Posted by: Zealot2021 (Member) on 02-16-2008 at 13:28
but ur a bullet magnet

 #62 - pilot - Posted by: swanley_boi (Member) on 02-16-2008 at 14:01
i would go in as a pilot cos even if you get shot down you can crash it in to the enemy....hopefully and if you make it you will be having:donut::beer::rock:

#63 - wow your all crazy!!! - Posted by: GeorgeRox26 (Member) on 02-16-2008 at 17:48
screw the ig and pilot is dumb if you ask me, youd be potentially one of the biggest targets o the field if delivering troops into the fray, why take out each troop when you can shoot down 50 in one shot?

 #64 - ad - Posted by: spacemarine912 (Member) on 02-16-2008 at 19:51
i'd rather be in armored division because blowing the s**t out of somebody in a basalisk from a mile away you got to admit that would be preaty fun  but imperial navy would be preaty fun to. foot soulder i think not be cannon fodder and be shot by a commisar for nothing i think thats wasting valubale men:( :mepimp:

#65 - Posted by: Hubbydubby (Member) on 02-17-2008 at 01:48
Armoured. Heavy armour to keep me safe. The not serving thing is a bit suicidal because, well, they kind of kill you if you say no.

 #66 - #57 - Posted by: sage62 (Member) on 02-17-2008 at 02:35
actually, i am not, as you may not have noticed, I have mostly een speaking fluff wise, not gameplay, I am certainly not saying that they are required to win in thr game, both DOW and 40k, my main point is that without commissars making there consequesnces for being a coward, eefusing to serve etc. then the Imperium would be nowhere near as powerful and would most likely fall, but I apologize in advance for things I say in the future regarding IG and SM, because frankly I don't like them, SM are overrated, intolerant assholes in armor who look cool enough to get by being the basic army, and I don't really know what to say about IG, they are good if used properly but I just don't like them, go figure, also (having consulted the Eldar codex to check the accuracy of some of my past statements) the actual amount of fire prisms it would take to obliterate anything is two linking their main weapon, which could easily punch a hole through a monolith:rock:

 #67 - Im a big coward!! - Posted by: Smudge_Face (Member) on 02-17-2008 at 04:04
Im a big Coward and say saving lives is better..Medic!!

#68 - Death to the falls emperor - Posted by: Angron (Member) on 02-17-2008 at 08:22
i would not serve, cause i think its better to fight for/with the Blood Pact ^^ Blood for the bloodgod! Skulls for the skullthrone!

#69 - sorry for doublepost but... - Posted by: Angron (Member) on 02-17-2008 at 08:29
if someone of you dont know the blood pact just look here http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Blood_Pact

#70 - Since there are only three choices, really - Posted by: DMfromhell (Member) on 02-17-2008 at 09:31
Only real choices, to me at least: Armor, Medic, Infantry, and Engineer (Not all IG units have Enginseers, some still rely on lesser augmented servants, still, they'd have to be well versed in the BS of the Omnissiah). I'd choose to enter the schola progenium and become a commissar attached to an artillery unit. Seems to be the safest option, while at the same time you'd be near all the action. Mike

 #73 - Posted by: armageddon643 (Member) on 02-17-2008 at 16:23
id be a pilot because if i am shot down ill go up in flame all spectacular like and. hopfuly crash on some nice little orks:thumbsup:

 #74 - ... - Posted by: Zealot2021 (Member) on 02-17-2008 at 17:11
It takes 4 prism cannons to punch a hole into a mono, not two... at least, thats what ive read. most of the fluff i read shows da sneaky eldar doing da sneaky stuff. course, there was this one about the swordwind... and they raped a small contingent of terminators, sms, dreds, and a thunderhawk. course, i blame the commander, i would have held the ground and used the armour of termies/dreds to keep the eldar in check, with sm used as "fast" support to those elite heavies... but thats hindsight 20/20.

 #75 - may be true - Posted by: sage62 (Member) on 02-17-2008 at 20:20
it may take more, not quite sure, the codex says that two Fire Prisms linking their main weapons can destroy any target in fluff, and to my knowledge there is nothing proving whether this is true or not, I am going on what the codex says. Also, that battle you described seems very accurate, as being sneaky is where the Eldar really stick out, and that Craftworld Biel-Tan has the most Aspect warriors, which really isn`t relevant to the topic but I felt like mentioning it (btw, Biel-Tan means ``Swordwind``

Has anyone heard of anti aircraft guns??????? infantry all the way!!!!! survive one battle and you become a sergeant. also not every regiment is full of cowardly teenagers who run as soon as the guns start firing. Look at all the more famous regiments and they are full of fierce fighters defending their homeworld. (steel legion etc.)

Definently infrantry, but not a basic trooper. i would be a commisar personaly, or in an airborne kasrkin squad. and with 76, your right, not all regiments are filled with cowardly teens. i.e. vostran first born, Tanith 1st, volpone bluebloods, etc... the only teen regiments would be conscripts or on constantly war-torn worlds like cadia or armegedon.

I am aware that a lot of the regiments aren't full of cowardly teens, and I once again apologize for some of the stuff I say, btu i don't look into the IG, and only know about the Cadians and the Steel Legion, so I am well aware that there will be exceptions, there always are, but what i say is often in a genral term, and with IG standards generally being "you can use a gun? You're in" it isn't that inacurate

You can hardly "not serve" unless you are unfit for duty, so armour division.

# 75... im pretty sure Biel-Tan means "rebirth of ancient days", your thinking of their attack forces.... and i'm not entirely sure what they are called anymore, something really foreign sounding. Believe me, I've studied the Eldar a lot, they have a mythology similar to the ancient greeks, lol. Just putting that out there

Imperial guards are the meat shields of the imperium. They're bound to die! :D

I went for armoured division, 'cos I have an armoured company for TT, but really I'd prefer to be a Commissar. Commissars are great:)

#84 are you deaf or something? I said that the IG is GENERALLY COWARDLY, not all of it, though for some reason the Catachan slipped y mind when I posted that. Catachan are freaking cool, what makes them MUCH coller than SM is that they kick ass WITHOUT genetic enhancement, and call Tau wimps as much as you want, they are like us right now. In modern warfare, does ANYBODY charge the enemy with a sword? We don't even use swords anymore, it's all guns etc., kind of like the Tau, except their guns kick ass. Also, Eldar are definetly not wimps and are good at more than making Craftworlds. Looks like I must name a few more reasons: All Eldar can fight when they need to (that's what a Guardian is) ALL Eldar are psychic to an extent Wraith cannons and D-cannons both utilize warp energy and are capable of a) tearing people to shreds with it, or b) banishing them to the warp where they will suffer eternal tortures or something (all i really knwo about the warp is that there are daemons in it) Also here are 5 reasons a Farseer would kick anything's ass: knows what you will do before you do is faster, smarter and has better reflexes (these two are a deadly combination) can crush your mind can easily send a Leman Russ flying can create a storm of pychic energy ah what the heck, maybe one more: A Dire Avenger Exarch's sword destroys your very soul and #82, you are correct, it is Biel-Tan's assembled forces, which is called bahzhakhain meaning "swordwind", been a while since I looked at that part of the codex, thank you for correcting me:rock:

#87 - BOOKBAG ALL THE WAY! - Posted by: Lunawolf242 (Member) on 02-20-2008 at 17:44
Here two choices I would pick Medic, or your run of the line infantry man. Why Medic because first of all I would be protecting my fellow humans, number two I at least did something good, number three I can at least not be on the frontline, and last but not least four. The bookbag or a satchel, I get to carry a stylish bookbag to hold my medicine (I think the Imperial guard medics still use a satchel). And in this hypothetical scenario I am a medic working on a wounded man. I dont notice that my fellow comrades are retreating from the forces of chaos. Then I look back to notice that there is a chaos soldier behind me. I then learn that I left my laspistol back at the space ship. I then take my bookbag then hit the chaos soldier and began running like Andy Dick. Ground Infantry why because I can be where the action is!

there is actually no compulsion on most imperial worlds to join the guard, in fact most aren't even recruited from due to small populations, being important agri world, or too out of the way etc. where the conscripts thing comes from is garrison wrolds like cadia (pre 13th black crusade-you can't conscript people who've been melted) which are in a state of constant war or readiness for invasion. all cadians are conscripted into either the whitesheilds (from which they graduate to standard units) or have been selected for kasrkin training. most guard recruit from normal (civilised, industrial or hive) worlds. if everyone had to serve, who would supply food, ammo to the forces or for that matter the products sold to the rest of the imperium (its not really poor, just concentrated wealth in the rich noble classes). also becoming an officer, titan princeps, SM etc. is harder than it sounds (although if you can escape imperial space the tau do ude human auxilary) as they have very selective entrance requirements. in lots of guard regiments the officers are there because of social class (ie there high born) the space marines require the very best recruits and even then most do not survive the full selection and bio enhancement process (this varies chapter to chapter). finally the titan princeps must have there mind linked into the titan and then only the most strong willed will ever be able to force it to obey them (average person tries- machine spirtit says no- brain fried by backlash). id pick pilot though, life expectancy is better than that of foot troops (though living longer than fifteen hours is probably only long enough to engage, disengage sleep refuel, etc.)
