A mod to distill the fast action aspects of DoW down to their bare essentials. Each of the standard races (Space Marine, Chaos, Eldar and Ork) will be modified to allow building only of 'assault' forces from a single unit production structure.

Other features:

* Movement and jumping abilities of most units buffed to increase the pace of the game. * New assault skills, such as grenades, now available to most units. * Each race trimmed to leader, scout, assault, heavy assault and fire support squads. * Two vehicle types per race: speeders/vypers/traks and walkers. * Low squad and support caps. * Simplified tech trees, based on a combination of capturing SPs, building and research. * Structures limited to a single production building, static defenses and listening posts.

NEWS:
=====

[2004-11-19]  Dawn of War -- ASSAULT! now has its first functioning race, the Space Marines Assault Company.  To celebrate this happy day, DoWA! is now available in an alpha release.



DESCRIPTION:
============

A mod to distill the fast action aspects of DoW down to their bare essentials.  Each of the standard races (Space Marine, Chaos, Eldar and Ork) will be modified to allow building only of 'assault' forces from a single unit production structure.  

Other features:

-- Movement and jumping abilities of most units buffed to increase the pace of the game.
-- New assault skills, such as grenades, now available to most units.
-- Each race trimmed to leader, scout, assault, heavy assault and fire support squads.
-- Two vehicle types per race: speeders/vypers/traks and walkers.
-- Low squad and support caps.
-- Simplified tech trees, based on a combination of capturing SPs, building and research.

KNOWN ISSUES:
=============

There is still quite a bit of  balancing to do (even a few powerful units early game can really do a number on the comp).  Other issues:

-- Can't use custom colour schemes without copying them across to the mod's directory structure and manually editing the contents, even with the standard races.
-- Lots of wrong text in the descriptions, etc.
-- No computer player AI for the new race (skirmish against standard races only).
-- Some issues with grenade throwing animations for troops that usually don't have grenades.

Also, I don't know if this mod works with the demo version of DoW, and I don't plan on trying to find out.  To anyone who would still ask, I say, "Buy the retail version!"
