Those of you waiting on this mod to be given the Ressurection of Evil 'stamp of approval,' then read on, you're about to get it...Being the mod-making-machine, and spending a lot of his free time improving upon existing mods, Dafama2K7 returns with the newest updated version of this awesome single-player mod! Be prepared to have your nerves frayed and your excitement level increased as you do battle in Double NG! This is not a download for the timid, only the brave should continue...
Some features of this mod include:
- Double damage of turrets and zombies (pistol, shield, shotgun, machine-gun and chain-gun).
- Double projectile velocity of demons (hell knight, imp, mancumbus, revenant and cacodemon).
- All effects described above are also enabled in multi-player mode.
- New sounds for demons and weapons.
- New skins for demons and some bosses.
- Ammo and clip size are always visible in the bottom right part of the HUD.
- Better contrast for color, more light and more specular effects.
- Fire and plasma balls are replaced by a yellow flame ball for imp and a green one for hellknight.
The original description states that this mod makes the game more tense and stress-inducing by plugging lots of new features into it. There's no room for beginners and the default parameters make the game as hard as possible (it remains beatable though)...which remains true today, however, since Dafama2K7 has gotten his paws on it, quite a few improvements have been made, and Double NG v2.7 Base and RoE[/i] has been released! Some of the changes made in this version include:
- ChainSaw has less light radius now and the light color is green.
- Fixed Scary spawn random light colors.
- The flashlight and Grabber (RoE only) has a larger light radius.
- Much better shaders.
- Fixed the Double_Weapon_Control_Loss_Effect.
- Now, the Double_Weapon_Control_Loss_Effect when enabled doesn't disable the weapon only hides this and the HUD at random intervals when player is static much time.

This mod use several Double*.pk4 files which contains specified new features. If you do not want one feature, just remove the file that contains the feature or just change its parameters. Here is the details of the files : 0) DoubleMenu.pk4 - Mainmenu, Launchscreen, Restart and Credits : display new interface. 1) DoublePlayer.pk4 - Speed : exchage walk and run, unlimited stamina. - Health : 200 max. - Armor : 200 max. 2) DoubleCrosshair.pk4 - Crosshair : removed but hud is not hide. - Ammo and clip size : are always visible in the bottom right part of the hud. In particular, it is useful when the specular shader effect makes the weapon screen unreadable. Involved weapons are machinegun, chaingun, plasmagun and bfg. 3) DoubleShader.pk4 - Shader : double specular factor and map effects. - Updated shader : better contrast for color, more light and more specular effects. In particular, if your brightness is too high and if you want to keep the shader effects of this modification, type in the console : - "r_lightScale 1" to half the brightness. Each monster is invulnerable while regening. - Advanced blending flame effect : translucent and using alpha blending for a better rendering. - Flame size : is equals to monster one. In single player mode, type in the console : - "seta double_monsterRegen 0" to disable monster regen. - "seta double_monsterFlameTexture 0" to disable the flame textures and to improve the frame per second number. - "seta double_monsterFlameLight 0" to disable the flame lights and to clearly improve the frame per second number. Another value than the string "0" enables the effect. You can also add them in your Autoexec.cfg file. In single player mode, type in the console : - "seta double_monsterTeleportDelay 0" to add 0 second between teleport sfx and the monster spawn. A value superior to 4 makes the game too easy. A value equals to 0 makes the game very hard because the monster fires immediately after its spawn. By default, this console variable contains no value and is considered equal to 0. Another value than a positive float is equal to 0. You can also add it in your Autoexec.cfg file. - Symbol effect : on walls around all monsters. - Advanced blending symbol effect : using blending for a better rendering. In particular, the symbols are always visible in the dark. - Symbol size : depends of monster one. In single player mode, type in the console : - "seta double_monsterSymbol 0" to disable monster symbols and to improve the frame per second number. Another value than the string "0" enables the effect. You can also add it in your Autoexec.cfg file. 8) DoubleCacodemon.pk4 - FlyingCacodemon : spawn lostsouls. 9) DoubleZombie.pk4 - All zombies : can respawn if its corpse is not immedialely destroyed in single player mode. 10) DoubleSpawn.pk4 - Player : can hear strange sounds and can temporary lose the control of his weapon if he does not move in single player mode. - Monsters : can aleatory spawn, but bosses. - Spawn : up to two monsters each five seconds in single player mode, more each 2.5 seconds in multiplayer mode. - Spawn monster : is also enabled in multiplayer mode. - Warmup : text is deleted. You can play all multiplayer maps alone whithout this red text displayed. In single player mode, type in the console : - "seta double_weaponControlLoss 0" to disable the loss of weapon control only. - "seta double_soundSpawn 0" to disable the strange sounds and the loss of weapon control. If this variable is set to 0, the double_weaponControlLoss value is not used and the loss of weapon control feature is disabled. - "seta double_monsterSpawn 0" to disable the aleatory spawn of monsters. Another value than the string "0" enables the effect. You can also add them in your Autoexec.cfg file. - Zombie security plasmagun : is a new monster using plasmagun, with an unlimited clip size and a high fire rate, making him dangerous. - Zombie commando bfg : is a new monster using bfg, with an unlimited clip size, making him very powerful. In single player mode, type in the console : - "seta double_zombieCommandoBfg 0" to disable the zombie commando bfg spawn. - "seta double_zsecPlasmagun 0" to disable the zsec plasmagun spawn. Another value than the string "0" enables the effect. You can also add them in your Autoexec.cfg file. 11) DoubleDemon.pk4 - Demons : walk and run velocity are doubled, but crawl one is not. 12) DoubleSound.pk4 - Demons : have new sounds. The list is all demons but cherub and bosses. - Weapons : have new sounds. The list is pistol, shotgun, machinegun, chaingun, grenade and plasmagun. 13) DoubleSkin.pk4 - Demons : have new skins. The list is all demons but tick and Sabaoth. - Weapons : have new skins. The list is pistol, shotgun, machinegun, chaingun, grenade, rocketlauncher, bfg and chainsaw. - Volcano skins : Lava parts are animated. These parts are also large and are always visible in the dark. This last point is very useful if you do not use the DoubleFlame.pk4 files that adds lights around monsters. - Metalic and animated weapon skin : All weapons but flashlight and soulcube have a better metalic render skin. Grenades, plasmagun and bfg have also animated skins. Their light parts are always visible in the dark. 14) DoubleLostsoul.pk4 Fixes looping sounds in multiplayer mode. 15) DoubleMusic.pk4 - Musics : have new sounds using only Doom3 original ones. The list is logo, bertrugerhead, credits, guisounds menu and d3theme. File configuration : If you want to initialize the console variables with the default values, copy these following lines at the end of your Autoexec.cfg file : seta double_monsterRegen 1 seta double_monsterFlameLight 1 seta double_monsterFlameTexture 1 seta double_monsterSymbol 1 seta double_monsterTeleportDelay 0 seta double_weaponControlLoss 1 seta double_soundSpawn 1 seta double_zombieCommandoBfg 1 seta double_zsecPlasmagun 1 seta double_monsterSpawn 1 For a better frame per second number, you can disable the shadow in the "options/system/advanced options" menu in the game. You can also set to 0 one of these following console variables : - double_monsterFlameLight - double_monsterFlameTexture - double_monsterSymbol Remark : - Use your old savegames with this mod crashes the game. - Sometimes, the game will not properly displays visual effects or badly lauches new monsters. Just save the game, quit and relaunch. Otherwise, after save the game, you can also use the command "vid_restart".
