File Description

Unsatisfied with the original Doom 3 weapon sounds, I set out to find and remix a suite of better sounds. After scrounging through many samples I already had, aswell as spending a few days on the net tracking down various sounds, I managed to create this pack.

Simply extract the contents of the zip file straight into your Doom3Base directory. This will create a new folder named "Sound" and sub-directories under this folder where the sound files are located. The game will automatically detect the sounds and use them.

To Uninstall, delete the "Sound" directory that was originally created (located under Doom3Base)

What's New V0.2:

-Machine Gun replaced sound from v0.1, added echo,lowered volume slightly

-Chaingun increased volume

-Shotgun Changed the higher pitched blast to a deeper one, added echo and deep rumble effect, slightly higher volume

-Pistol replaced sound from v0.1, added echo, lowered volume

-Resampled all sounds to 44100htz, and made them all stereo (Original sounds were 22050htz and Mono). NOTE: Anything lower than 22050htz and Doom 3 fails to play the sound at all.

MEGA SOUND PACK v0.2
====================

By Megahurtz

Description:
=====================

Unsatisfied with the original Doom 3 weapon sounds, I set out to find and remix a suite of better sounds. After scrounging through many samples I already had, aswell as spending a few days on the net tracking down various sounds, I managed to create this pack.

What's New:
===================

V0.2
-----

-Machine Gun
replaced sound from v0.1, added echo,lowered volume slightly

-Chaingun
increased volume

-Shotgun
Changed the higher pitched blast to a deeper one, added echo and deep rumble effect, slightly higher volume

-Pistol
replaced sound from v0.1, added echo, lowered volume

-Resampled all sounds to 44100htz, and made them all stereo (Original sounds were 22050htz and Mono). NOTE: Anything lower than 22050htz and Doom 3 fails to play the sound at all.

History:
===================

V0.1
-----
Completely new sound samples (not modifications of the originals) for the following weapons:

-Pistol

-Machine Gun

-Shotgun

-Chaingun

What's in the next version?
============================

In the next version I hope to move onto changing the explosion sounds to make them sound a little more powerful. I also plan on changing the Plasma Gun sound and possibly the Rocket Launcher sound.

How to install:
=========================

Simply extract the contents of the zip file straight into your Doom3\Base directory.
This will create a new folder named "Sound" and sub-directories under this folder where the sound files are located.
The game will automatically detect the sounds and use them.

To Uninstall, delete the "Sound" directory that was originally created (located under Doom3\Base)

Known issues:
=======================

Currently the only issue I know of is that the sound effects will be cut off when either reloading quickly, or changing to another weapon.
From what I understand, this is actually a problem with how Doom 3 plays the weapon sound effects. Rather than letting the sound effect finish playing, it is actually tied with the current weapon action, so once you hit reload (for example) it will cut off the firing sound effect and play the reload sound effect.
I actually noticed this same problem with the default Doom 3 sounds aswell. Unfortunately, unless someone knows of a config/settings tweak, i have no idea how to fix it.
The problem isn't all that major, so it's no biggie.

How to contact me:
=========================

If you would like to give me some advice, or let me know what you would like added/changed then you can find me on the PlanetDoom modification forum. I'm always open to suggestions.

Just go to www.planetdoom.com and click the forum link in the menu bar. Then click on the Doom 3 modification forum. I go under the name Megahurtz.

Disclaimer:
===================

Considering these are just new replacement sounds, there isn't much that can go wrong. However, i take no responsibility for anything that possibly could go wrong.

I wish i could thank the many people that provided the sounds on the internet, however with so many samples to choose from and many places to aquire them, it's impossible for me to do so. So thanks to anyone that provides their free samples for anyone to use.

Please feel free to use or modify the included sound samples for use with your own modifications.
