Need a new look (err...I guess it would be an older look) for the baddies in your game? Skin Pack Add-on for Classic DOOM v3.0 is a sweet skin pack that changes the Doom3 monster's colours so that they more closely match what you played against in Doom and Doom2; It's good to see that Santiago Rocha is continuing his work on this pack!

Want to know what has been changed in this pack? The download will give the Doom3 baddies to have a more classic look, however, to fully enjoy this pack, you should also consider downloading Ambient Light by GunRunner (Ingo) as the stock Doom3 game is rather dark, and Classic Sounds Soundpack (1.0) by Revenant100, for a more nostalgic feel. Santiago Rocha has also stated that a possible remake may be in the future for this 'total conversion', to more accurately depict the original monsters.

This is a excellent pack to have if you long for the old school zombies, with the gameplay of Doom3! Definitely worth the price of a free download!!

 -How To Install-

1. Extract SR_CDOOM_skins.pk4 to your doom3/cdoom directory, or in your doom3/base directory if you want to play the original DOOM 3
2. Load "Classic DOOM 3" mod and the skins will take effect.

 -How to Uninstall-

1. Simply delete the SR_CDOOM_skins.pk4 file.

 Yes, i know, i get a lot of mails with this petition, because the quality version kill "all" the machines in some circumstances.
For example the test map named "test_lotsaimps" with 50 enemies.

What happened with the error in the zsecs heads?

 This is the most strange and misterios bug that i found making this mod, but if all is ok in my new changes to the last version of Classic Doom 3, this bug never happen again.
I haven't still been able to find out what is exactly the problem that causes this bug.

What i can do to play Doom 3 with the secret zombie commando skin?

 Well...zombie commando hav three skins, they are:

commando_blue (ss of Wolfenstein 3D)
commando_red  (soviet for the old URSS)
commando_white (Umbrella zombie from Resident Evil)

Now you need to open the .pk4 like a .zip file, then open the .mtr files like a .txt file, open the "materials\_zombies.mtr" search to find this lines:


models/monsters/zombie/commando/com2_d > diffusemap	models/zombies/commando_blue (change the "commando_blue" to "commando_white" or "commando_red")

models/monsters/zombie/commando/com1_d > diffusemap	models/zombies/commando_red (change the "commando_red" to "commando_white" or "commando_blue")

 like commando skin, open the "materials\_weapons.mtr" in the top you find this lines:

 Why are you making skins for enemies that weren't in the original Doom?
=================================================
 The skinpack tries to help the Doom3 enemies that are "temporarily" in the mod, to have a more classic look, but in the future, this "total conversion" could get a remake of all the enemy models to be accurate matches of the original, so all the work I make now wouln't be wasted if the pack was also compatible with the original Doom3. I'd probably also have to do a remake of the new enemies to avoid the inconsistency in styles between the old and new enemies during the game.

 Of course, you'd have to use the "Ambient Light" mod by GunRunner to appreciate the skin work, since the original Doom3 is just too dark, and the "Classic Sounds Soundpack" by Revenant100 to set a more nostalgic ambient.

But remember that when you put the "Ambient Light" .pk4 in Doom3's "base" directory, the machine will hang when you try to play the "Classic DOOM 3" mod.

 Are you sure you put the hellknight skins in the correct order?
=================================================
 The HK has two skins: a grey one and a green one, representing maybe the hellknight and the baron of hell. The problem is, which is which? I mean, the originals are orange and red. I got based in the fact that the first time that you face these enemies in Doom3, are two grey ones that come out of the portal, maybe representing the final shareware Doom bosses (first episode in Doom), which are two orange ones (hellknights). Also, it would fit the color tone, as the HK is lighter than the BOH, just like grey and green.

 The pinky looks kinda good, but its teeth really suck.

 The problem is that the models' UVW map is way too stretched, to the point of only being able to put teeth on the mandible's sides. I should change the geometry in the future.

 The revenant's armor doesn't look as convincing as the zsec_shield's shield.

 The problem is that the revenant's armor is flexible, so giving it more detail (to be perceived as rough), would evidence the area where the armour stretches.

 The archvile has a light point in its head.

 You should check that kind of bugs with the original skin before posting them.
