YAY! Here is the next version of DDS Converter. The changes:

[---> Change Log <---]

Thanks to captain_BOS suggestions and good support from the previous versions, you now have this new build of DDS Converter. Here are the changes:

==== new features ==== - added 2 panels for showing a preview of a selected bitmap as well as various information about it, whatever its format - added PSD support (import/export) - added support for a command line parameter to bias the quality factor to use when converting to JPEG files. In practice, if you run the program like this: DDScv 65 then the converted JPEG files will have a quality of 65% (default is 100%). Just remember that this new quality over file size factor will be used until you provide a new one on the command line ==== maintenance ==== - rewritten the code that saves settings to DDScv.dat; the former one had a inconsequential drawback^ - should you lose this data file|, DDS Converter can now generate a default one if necessary - I finally succeedeed to get the dialogs 100% centered on the screen, whatever the active resolution; this is just "cosmetic" though

==== known fact, so you won't be surprised ==== - saving images whose dimensions are not of a power of two (like 640x480, 800x600 ...) to DDS just won't work (0-byte files would be generated); and I have no control over that. HOWEVER, this is absolutely inconsequential for us, mappers, as game textures are always of a power of 2 (64x128, 256x256, 512x32 ...). This is not a bug

I noticed when previewing large images I had to wait over 5 seconds. The preview mode is just converting the selected image to a JPEG and then previewing it. Maybe this can be improved. PK3 support not yet implememted.

Great job Bluehair! (Maybe we should stop calling it DDS Converter since it can do a LOT more. ;) )

Thanks to captain_BOS suggestions and good support from the previous versions,
you now have this new build of DDS Converter. Here are the changes:

You will likely have noticed the disabled "Browse PK3" button; this feature
will be implemented in the next (and last) release of this program. It will
enable you to extract/convert DDS files straight from a PK3 file. Again, this
is captain_BOS' idea :) It won't be ready soon though, as I will have to use
complex Windows' controls that I have never used before; therefore I will need
some learning curves here before starting anything. Otherwise, I haven't keep
coding for months now, and then I am quite KO currently. But I will do it,
don't worry ;)

Bluehair.
