Pre-Order Elite Force 2 for $39.90

This is the Star Trek Elite Force II Single-Player Only Demo.

A terrifying evil has awakened. Hordes of nightmarish creatures are attacking ships and colonies throughout the galaxy. Evolved for combat, their armies have made easy work of the opposition. Now, it's up to the Hazard Team to respond. Lead your highly trained squad from volcanic worlds to deadly swamps, from starship hulls to the underground cities of long-vanished races, from mercenary space stations to ice planets. Bring the fight to the enemy as the twisting plot unfolds. Seek to uncover the mysterious origins of the invaders, discover secret enemy alliances and subterfuge, and eliminate the enemy threat once and for all.

This 118MB download contains a small portion of gameplay from two of the missions in Star Trek Elite Force II. Within the demo, you will fight against several Exomorph creatures, which represent a small sampling of the wide variety of monsters and different humanoids you will encounter in the full version of the game.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This demo is based on pre-release code, and does not reflect the expected final quality level of the full, released version of Star Trek Elite Force II. Any bugs encountered will likely be resolved; weapon balance, level design, scripted sequences and monsters encountered all may change in the final version.

Customer support is not available for the Star Trek(tm) Elite Force II Demo. Please do not contact Activision Customer Support for assistance with this pre-release demo.

2.	DEMO CONTENTS

Due to its pre-release nature, Activision Customer Support does not officially support this demo. Please do not contact Activision Customer Support for assistance with this pre-release demo.

This demo contains a small portion of gameplay from two of the missions in Star Trek Elite Force II. Within the demo, you will fight against several Exomorph creatures, which represent a small sampling of the wide variety of monsters and different humanoids you will encounter in the full version of the game.

1st Level: Attrexian Station - As the leader of the Hazard Team, your primary mission is to search this station for any survivors of the recent attack on the USS Dallas, a Federation starship. The USS Dallas had attempted to help the Attrexian Station and was overwhelmed by the attacking forces. You must also protect any Attrexians you encounter from the attacking alien species that is still running rampant in the space station. The following weapons will be available to you in this mission:
·	Phaser – This is a lightweight weapon that recharges itself over time. Its primary fire mode fires a constant beam of energy. The secondary fire mode depletes the Phaser's energy stores more rapidly, but fires a more concentrated beam that may disintegrate your target. It is important to remember that the Phaser will never completely run out of energy. It is useful as a last line of defense, if you are ever in the unfortunate position of being out of ammunition for your other weapons.
·	Federation Assault Rifle – This is a new addition to the Hazard Team arsenal. The Assault Rifle's primary fire is ideal for swiftly killing enemies. Since each shot disperses a spread of high-energy projectiles, it is best suited for short-range combat. The alternate fire mode emits a medium-range burst of concussive energy, which is suited for concentrated groups of enemies. (Hint: This weapon's primary fire mode is devastatingly effective at close range against the smallest alien Exomorphs.)
·	Enhanced Compression Rifle - An improved version of the standard Federation Compression Rifle, this weapon's primary fire rapidly shoots small beams in a tight spread. The alternate fire mode delivers a powerful ball of energy that explodes on contact with any surface or target. The alternate fire mode causes splash damage, so use it with caution in small areas and against short-range combatants.
·	Tricorder - Use your Tricorder's primary mode whenever you encounter a panel that brings up a blue outline of the tricorder in your HUD. Use the alternate display modes to gather details about the structural integrity of your surroundings, which may reveal important information such as secret doors.
·	Attrexian Arc Launcher - This weapon’s primary fire emits rapid bursts of electric energy at considerable range. Its alternate fire mode is extremely useful for delivering maximum damage to concentrated groups of multiple enemies. Use the alternate fire mode to launch small clouds of gas in the area near your enemies. Then, aim the Arc Launcher and use the primary fire to "ignite" the cloud in an electrical storm of explosive energy. Be careful not to do this near your team members, and keep a safe distance! (Hint: Fire multiple gas clouds in a small area and ignite them at once. One shot can cause them all to explode, which can dispose of a multitude of enemies in one fell swoop!)

2nd Level: Attrexian Colony - The alien Exomorphs continue to assault the Attrexians, threatening one of their colony worlds. Eliminate the Exomorph threat, and assist any Attrexians you encounter. For this mission, you will have some of the weapons described above, as well as:
·	Grenade Launcher - This powerful new weapon enables you to fire grenades over a wide range and detonate them at will. Grenades will auto-detonate if they strike organic targets (both enemy and friendly) but will bounce off of structures, objects, and walls and come to rest on the floor. Use the primary fire to launch the grenade (note: the longer you hold the fire button down, the further the grenade will travel). When you wish to detonate the grenade, press the alternate fire button and it will explode, damaging all targets in its blast radius. You can also fire multiple grenades and set them all off simultaneously when you activate the secondary. The Grenade Launcher is a very powerful weapon, and should be used with caution, especially around Attrexians and your Hazard Team members! (Hint: this weapon is best used at long range, and can be useful for firing around corners and into rooms while remaining out of range of enemy fire. Keep in mind that the grenades can be detonated in mid-air if you choose!)

5. HINTS & TIPS

·	Don't forget to use your Tricorder. When using the Tricorder, you can right-click to trigger alternate view modes, revealing structural weaknesses (which can be destroyed by weapons fire) and other things hidden to the unaided eye. This may help you in breaching doors and exploring hidden areas.

·	Not everything you encounter is an enemy. For instance, the Attrexians are a friendly race, and should not be harmed. Not only are you there to protect them, they may provide some additional help in sticky situations.

·	Take advantage of all health and energy terminals you run across with the Use key (X by default).

·	Do not allow the enemies to get too close. Try to fight from a distance to avoid getting overwhelmed.

·	Be mindful of "splash" damage from your weapons. Some fire modes cause explosive area-of-effect damage, which can hurt more than one target, including you, your teammates or those you are trying to protect!

6. GAME PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENTS

If you are experiencing game performance issues, and would like to increase the overall framerate of the game (at the possible expense of visual quality), consider changing the following variables in the options screens:

Video Settings
·	Reduce your Video Mode to a lower resolution.
·	Reduce your Color Depth to 16-bit.
·	Reduce the "Texture Quality" setting to Medium (suitable for video cards with 64MB VRAM) or Low (for video cards with 32MB VRAM).
·	You can further increase performance by turning off or reducing to "Low" any of the settings in the "Advanced" video menu.

Audio Settings
·	Uncheck the box next to "Reverb On"
·	Switch your Sound Quality setting to Software.
·	Lower the quality of the sound from 44Khz to 22Khz or even to 11Khz.
·	Enable Force 8-bit Sound
