File Description

This is the interior of the U.S.S. Kepler, brought to you by dhotmes. According to dhotmes this map was intended to test curved corridors. This map includes four decks of the Kepler with each deck loadable on its own. Its looks pretty sweet. The curved corridors make it look very high quality. The open lounge area in the centre of the deck is a cool feature. The lighting is also very well done with different levels of lighting in certain areas of the decks. The only mute point is the fact the map is unfinished as you can clearly see missing wall panels and missing floors. Don't go stepping into the turbolift as there is no floor and you will simply be caught behind the walls. Also there is a slight niggling problem of mismatching brushes which create a little white oddity on deck 2 in the overall map which does not appear on the individual deck 2 bsp (possibly due to interference from brushes belonging to another deck?)

Anyways, this is a decent enough map even if it is unfinished. :)

Note: This mod uses some textures from the "Conflicts of Interests" mod that are used in the Jeffries tubes as is the turbulift model from the same mod.

USS Kepler

This is a mapping project I started a few years back to test curved corridors. Unfortunately I didn't finish it. Here are the files nonetheless.

Included are:
*.map and *.bsp files for the four decks I had started.
The decks are available individually as well as put together in a single file:

kepler
kepler_deck1_a
kepler_deck2_b
kepler_deck3_a
kepler_deck4_a


To play put the files in your ef2basemaps folder, start the game, open the console and type "map kepler" (without the quotes) for the complete map or the filenames for the individual mapnames for the single decks.

These maps use no own textures. A few textures from the "Conflicts of Interests" mod are used in the jeffries tubes as is the turbulift model from the same mod.


Issues:
-besides the being unfinishedness there seems to be the problem of those little artifacts that occur when two brushes do not entirely line up. You can see a little white twinkling effect. For some reason it is there in the kepler map on deck2 but not on the individual deck2 map, even though there are no differences. Whatever...
-Do not walk into the turbolift. It has no floor.

Please feel free to use these whatever you want from these files.
