DESCRIPTION:

This simulation is based on the abandon, underground mining station at Sigma 313. Additional challenges have been programmed into this simulation for training purposes. This seven level facility simulation is used to train BOD personnel in close combat exercises and infiltration techniques. This dank, dark facility has also been used for assault and capture procedures and situations.

AUTHOR COMMENT:

FEAR 2.0 is the long awaited sequel to my original FEAR map for Raven's Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force. It seems that the original FEAR map has a rather large following. It's been a favorite among most people that play it, even though it wasn't my best map. I created FEAR 2.0 for those who played and play the original FEAR regularly.

This sequel of the original FEAR is completely new. There are lots of areas to explore and many secrets along the way. This has to be one of the most confusing maps in my line up, but I guarantee the player a good time in this map. There is some cool eye candy too, like the custom FOG, and the many traps located throughout the map.

This map is predominantly designed for a DEATHMATCH, but is also CTF Enabled (due to a vote from my clan...LOL!). It's also TEAM enabled as well. It runs really nice with the Excessive Overkill Mod, and I think it makes a nice edition to the BOD arsenal of maps.

BOT Comment :

I did not include the *.aas file in this map due to a game error. I have a very complex structure in my map that is causing problems for the bots. This map is simply way to big for them.

Map details include:

• Over 6 times larger playing field then the original FEAR map
• Seven Floors! (I count the floors down from 1 through 7.
Level 1 being the uppermost floor and Level 7 being the bottom.)
• Each floor distinct in its own way with its own ambient sound.
(Kinda like having 7 different maps in the same map)
• Newly redesigned GREAT HALL on Level 1.
• New to this map - "THE HALL OF KNIVES"
• New to this map - "THE BLENDER HALL"
• New to this map - "THE CRYSTAL CHAMBER"
• New to this map - "THE SEVENTH LEVEL OF DEATH"
which includes "THE BREAD SLICER"
• New to this map - "THE ABYSS"
• Transports and Ladders up and down the levels of the map.
• More of those great "Sniper Tunnels" people seem to love.
• Jump pad from Level 3 main corridor to Level 1 GREAT HALL.
• Several secret rooms and messages. (Find them all.. LOL!)
• One REALLY BIG SECRET, "llBODllFLUX's Song"!!!!
• Ability to jump down from level to level via "THE ABYSS"
• DM, Team, Tourney, and CTF Enabled

Minimum system requirements

A computer consisting of:

• Windows or Mac OS
• Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force v.1.2
• 15 to 20 MB of Hard Drive Space
• OpenGL Video Graphics Card (GeForce 2 or better recommended)
• 800 MHz Processor (Recommended)
• At least 128 MB of Ram (Recommended)

If you get an error that reads...

"Hunk_AllocTemp failed on 262152 with 236264 free.set com_Hunkmegs to 48 to fix"

...This is not a map bug. Elite force is simply telling you that you do not have enough available memory to run this particular map. This map is Huge! Try to close all open programs, then take your available memory, and tell Elite Force to use half of it for the game.

Com_hunkmegs is the variable that adjusts the amount for available memory for the game. If you have 128MB of ram, try setting EF memory to 64MB like this...

- At the menu, bring down the console by hitting the "~" key. Then type "/com_hunkmegs 64". Depending on how much memory you have in your system you can up the 64 number. If you have 256 MB ram, you can make that number 128, which will allocate 128 MB of ram for the game.

By the way, reset EF when you change this setting. Type in the new memory settings, then quit the program through the menu system, so EF can write the new setting to the *.cfg file. When you start EF again, it will be using the new memory setting. 

I would assume that some systems may not be able to run this map, due to the sheer size of the visual field. However, if you play with the memory settings, you should be just fine.
