Final Frag

finalfrag.zip —

Description

This is an enhanced version of Elimination playable from the Solomatch Menus. Several of the enhancements are based on Lt. Commander Saligna's Gladiator Arena. He made this mod because he is a 56ker, and sometimes he just can't play online. He loves Saligna's Gladiator mod, but finds it difficult to use, because you have to create maplists, etc. He hopes that other 56kers will also enjoy this. (If you'd like to play Gladiator Arena, the best place to play it is on the {MAC}Gladiator server located at 66.142.36.50:27962.) This mod is intended for solomatch use, and has had no online testing.

Description: This is an enhanced version of Elimination playable from the Solomatch Menus. Several of the enhancements are based on Lt. Commander Saligna's Gladiator Arena. I made this mod because I am a 56ker, and sometimes I just can't play online. I love Saligna's Gladiator mod, but found it difficult to use, because I would have to create maplists, etc. My hopes are that other 56kers will also enjoy this. Installation: Unzip the Final Frag Folder into your Star Trek Voyager Elite Force Folder NOT your BaseEF folder.

Recommended settings:

Run speed of 320 or higher (to make it a little easier to outrun the weaps fire)

If you get stuck on a grey screen trying to start the game, copy your baseEF hmconfig.cfg file into the FinalFrag folder (if one isn't there already), open it with a text editor, and raise the number on the line that says "seta com_hunkmegs". A good guide is to use up to 1/3 of your ram for the number. I have mine at 128 (yes, I don't have a power machine)

Known bugs:
When you perform a map_restart when only two players were left, the final music will start playing at the beginning of the match. This can be remedied by pulling down your console "~" and typing (without quotes) "/stopsound"

New Cvars and enhancements (enter cvars from the console):

(cvar) Randomstart -- When set to 1, the game will randomly select the first map after choosing the bot skill level, regardless of what map you had selected from the map list. Will also flash "Random Start is on" over the map list.

(cvar) g_randomWeaps -- When set to 1, all weaps and ammo will be removed from the map. Each player will also be randomly given 1 weapon, including the phaser (if changed during a game, it will require a map_restart).

(cvar) g_noHurt -- When set to 1, anything that would cause misadventure (falling into space, etc.) will transport you (or the bots) to a random spawn point. However, things like fire that causes pain will do the same thing. Most maps, you will want this off (if changed during a game, it will require a map_restart).

This game will use ALL single and ffa maps in the map list as long as they contain an aas file.

The post game menu contains a new button for random map selection.

Bots are much more aggressive.

First person spectator now works.

A server side fix for the model taunt during the intermission.

Allows you to have ALOT more maps, and ALOT more skins.

Many other cosmetic changes.

Ideas borrowed from Lt. Commander Saligna's Gladiator Mod (the best EF mod out there):
1. Computer announcements of the number of remaining players.
2. Dramatic final battle music.
3. g_randomWeaps cvar taken from standard weapons mode of Gladiator.
4. Uses tripwire grenades from Specialties.

Using the Mod:
To run the mod, simply pull it up in your mods menu in STVEF, or use the included batch file located in the finalfrag folder.

Special Thanks:
Thanks to my Beta Testers: CCD and Boudicca. Also, thanks to {Mac}AdmlKeysaw for the idea of the g_noHurt cvar and for dealing with my lag on his server :P And, thanks to Lt. Commander Saligna for creating the best mod available for EF, and giving his blessing to make a solo match look alike.
