Expansions are quicker to produce and also they can stay on the same topic. Like for example Star Wars Empire at War Thrawns Revenge, or something like that. I mean why make a WHOLE new game when its going to be about the same thing. Also sometimes games cost more than expansion packs. But that is my opinion.

the problem with an expansion is that there isnt much of a chance to improve the graphics or the multiplayer, you really need a whole new game to do that, plus a whole new game could be built on the reaction to EAW and FOC, with huge amounts of new stuff that no modder could ever do simply because they werent there when the original program was designed

Maybe new EaW, making the old one better...

#4 - Posted by: InvisibleHand (Member) on 07-17-2008 at 03:16

But were would the new EAW go about? It's very hard to add new things, because the mods have added almost everything.

#5 - New Engine - Posted by: Cainrae (Member) on 07-17-2008 at 04:55

The EAW's graphic and AI engine's are really outdated now, the graphics are not that good compared to newer RTS's they should use their engine from "Universe at War" and maybe update it ofcource, and the AI engine need's to be improved... i'm rarely attacked at all in Galatic Conquest Mode, even on Hard

#6 - Posted by: Vendak (Member) on 07-17-2008 at 08:24

EAW2 only because they messed up FoC pretty bad...

 #7 - New EAW plz. - Posted by: need2download (Member) on 07-17-2008 at 09:13

EAW could of been so much more than how it is now, its very imbalanced, and its really just rushing. Place-able turrets, and actually good balance for the 3 factions would of really made EAW different, for the better.

you realise there is a successful mod series called Thrawn't revenge, which is ever nearing a release?

 #9 - Posted by: Vaders_legion (Member) on 07-17-2008 at 17:23

A new game preferably that features the cut features of deplomacy and political control. Honestly, EaW has been worn out.

#10 - Posted by: Soveriegn (Member) on 07-17-2008 at 22:31

Yeah, but with lucasarts not even concentrating on even EAW anymore, I mean they totally ignore EAW and they made UAW and that wasn't a great success. They wouldn't spend time making a NEW EAW2 when they are more likely to make an expansion.

I think totally remaking the engine, too allow 3d combat (in space, at least) and REALISTIC hardpoints, speeds, damages, and units. Another expansion would be met with same ol' same ol' griping about how unreaslistic it is, how factions are sooo overpowered, the like.

#12 - Posted by: Soveriegn (Member) on 07-18-2008 at 13:51

But, then some other company should make a remake of the game, but they would never get permission.

Republic at War, anyone?

#14 - Posted by: Soveriegn (Member) on 07-18-2008 at 16:04

Alot of people are annoyed by republic at war and its not likely of Lucasarts to go and waste their time on a game when they know there are plenty of mods. I still don't know why alot of people like that era so much its gotta be in a game.

 #15 - #13 - Posted by: vadereclipse (Member) on 07-18-2008 at 16:58

there's a mod called that, which is actually making progress. i'm happy with that.

#16 - Posted by: Schofield (Member) on 07-19-2008 at 10:49

I think RaW will be one of the few mods I'll bother downloading.

#17 - Posted by: sevicson (Member) on 07-20-2008 at 04:42

New game ofcourse, EAW/FOC isn't bad but the game engine needs to be improved. Fights AROUND the planet (even around the moons?). I also hate each ship of same type hangs at the same height. Not produced by petroglyph cus they make the game and don't look after it when it's released. FOC had serious bugs when they released it, tells enough about petroglyph. Same is happening with their UAW (lame game by the way, only played demo not worth my money). I hope if they make it they include Clone wars, empire and new republic time line because these time lines are closer together then KOTOR (like 10000 years before clone wars). I hope they don't make another expansion cus they will go further with that stupid ZC. Don't make up stupid factions! I hope for a better RTS game developer shows up that knows our PC can play much heavier games and hope they develop a game that is worth to be played on my PC. PC's today have better performace then 10 years ago petroglyph! THey only REAL expansion I'm waiting for is not one of petroglyph but one of Z3rox. This dude changed most parts of EAW/FOC entirely...

#18 - Posted by: sevicson (Member) on 07-20-2008 at 04:45

sorry for DP, but I hope they drop the cinematic mode cus it doens't look cinematic at all when you look at teh fighters. They better increase the details in the overwatch view, I prefer that more then some stupid cinematic mode. I used it a few times to look at eclipse but thats all.

#19 - Posted by: simplestarwarsfan (Member) on 07-20-2008 at 14:03

a new a game would be better but sevicson's 10th post is right lucusarts is not interested in eaw anymore which sucks:(

#20 - Posted by: Soveriegn (Member) on 07-20-2008 at 16:02

My name is Soveriegn not sevicson. Just to claify with you and yes Lucasarts has no use for EAW when their making force unleash.

 #21 - Posted by: mike_1234567890 (Member) on 07-21-2008 at 09:54

they do need to make another explantion because of the cliff hanger in FOC anyway so there is a hi possibility of them making another one in time (but not for a while if u ask me)

#22 - Posted by: Chandler (Member) on 07-21-2008 at 13:02

We need an entirely new engine for modding purposes. That would mean a sequel.

#23 - Posted by: Soveriegn (Member) on 07-22-2008 at 18:24

Just because they make a sequel doesn't mean its going to be easy to mod, cause sometimes when the make a game better, they use more complex files that can rarely be open equally a modding community for a sequel would surely die fast.

 #24 - Posted by: Vlad1111 (Member) on 07-23-2008 at 03:26

if u make an expansion the graphics will be the same, if u make an EaW 2 the graphic will be better.

 #25 - Posted by: Xenophon38 (Member) on 07-23-2008 at 10:46

A Clone Wars expansion with new maps and vehicles to tie in with the upcoming Lucas CG I Clone Wars movie, would have been a smart move, but it's a little late now.
