Get ready for some exciting gaming experiences using futuristic weapons in an all new map!

This single player map utilizes the NewWave Mod, which was released by chimella in December, for playing the original game and custom maps. Horus 9 was originally meant to be a short weapons training map for that mod but chimella has extended it and released it separately. You do not need the NewWave Mod to play Horus9 as it is self contained.

As this map is for the NewWave Mod, you should famillarize yourself with the weapons, knowing what they can do, and which is the best for any particular job can be the deciding factor in your survival! Have a look at some of the weapons that you will be using:

MK I Pulse Sub Machine Gun (Tinted P90)

  • Primary automatic fire only - high velocity pulse rounds

Plasma Rifle (Tinted AG36)

  • Primary fire - medium damage plasma bolts

Impulse Gun (Tinted Shotgun)

  • Positive impulse (primary fire) - uses shotgun ammo

Be sure to check out the Weapons.txt document contained in this download to get the complete information on the hardware available!

This Mod was created under the 1.4 all-in-one patch. If you experience problems in the first instance please install this patch.

   This single player map utilizes the NewWave Mod which I released earlier for playing the 
 original game and custom maps. It was originally a short weapons training map for that mod
 but I have extended it and released it separately. You do not need the NewWave Mod to play
 Horus9 it is self contained.

 This Mod was created under the 1.4 all-in-one patch. If you experience problems in the first
 instance please install this patch.

 INSTALLATION:

 Extract the folder and put it into your Far Cry Mods folder (not the Levels folder this will
 not work!)
 To Start the game at your preferred difficulty level double click one of the Start batch files
 in the Horus9 folder e.g. Start Horus9 veteran (recommended)
 You can also start Horus9 via the mods menu:
 Start Far Cry and at the Main menu choose the Mods option, then on the right highlight the game
 and click the Load Mod button
 Far Cry will then restart, at the custom menu hit the F1 key to load the game at the default
 medium difficulty level
 The mod does not change or overwrite any of your Far Cry installation files
 You can reload checkpoints from an earlier game after the game has loaded by going to the main
 menu by hitting the ESC key

 Use quicksave at your own risk. It was used in testing and only minor bugs were found but
 if you have problems after using quicksave even once please do not email me. Crytek does not 
 support it, several kinds of triggers are known to not save correctly including explosive
 placement points, damage areas, hidden objects, particle effects ....

 UNINSTALLATION:

 Just delete the folder from the Mods folder 

 The rock has been replaced by small incremental health packs. It's not perfect but it works. 
 It is very slow to prevent overusage allowing you to shift the game balance too much in your 
 favour.

 Created and tested on Windows XP Pro SP2, 1.7GHz AMD, 1500Mb PC3200 RAM, ATI Radeon 9600 256Mb 
 Atlantis Pro graphics card, at 1024x768 settings on medium.
 Beta tested on Windows XP Pro SP1, Intel Pentium D 3.20 GHz 2mb Cache, ASRock 775Dual-880Pro 
 Motherboard, 1GB Geil DDR 400 Dual Channel RAM, 64 bit Ready CPU and Motherboard, Nvidia GeForce 
 7600 GT 256mb by EVGA

 If you are not familiar with the NewWave Mod you should at least read the summary in
 Weapons.txt (included) before playing or the weapons might baffle you, noting in particular 
 which are short and which long range weapons. Using the wrong weapon in a situation doesn't 
 usually work. If you don't read it you may miss things that you could use and you may not
 understand what killed you.

 The weapons tend to rely heavily on particle effects which requires more pc power than normal.

 KNOWN BUGS AND ODDITIES

 I doubt this game will run under an unpatched version of Far Cry. Install the 1.4 all-in-one patch.

 Using the health throw (rock replacement) gives red onscreen like damage, it causes a dynamic
 light burst on most settings and has impulse, so this really needs more work.

 Low to medium systems may experience minor lag near the end when under sniper attack from
 the hills.

 If you are experiencing fps problems, read Horus9 settings.

 If you find objects are missing which others have found this may be caused by faulty,
 low quality or insufficient ram. Try turning down settings especially texture quality, create
 a new profile and start again.

 Weapons not hitting targets is often caused by one or more of the following: incorrect patch,
 settings too high, cpu over strained and/or insufficient ram. Read Horus9 settings.

 If you have used quicksave and it has caused a problem create a new profile and start again.
