While the 2014’s shopping season has come to an end, Microsoft, in a news posting to the official Xbox website, has confirmed that it will be making a popular Xbox One bundle available at major retailers until January 3rd, 2015. The bundle in question includes a copy of Assassin’s Creed: Unity and only costs $349. This, of course, is $50 cheaper than the standard Xbox One without any game. Gamers interested in taking advantage of the bundle can look for it at “Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Microsoft Stores, Target, Toys ‘R Us and Walmart.”
That Microsoft would extend the availability of the bundle is far from surprising. The Xbox One, after months of being beaten by Sony’s PlayStation 4, captured the top hardware sales spot in November based largely off of the popularity of this discounted bundle. While we still don’t know how well the Xbox One sold in December, it’d be reasonable to predict that the bundle continued to sell strongly. Making it available into January, even just for a few days, could, in turn, potentially give it another sales bump that could help it snag the top spot for the first month of 2015. Time will have to tell, of course, if that winds up being the case.
