Frederik Schreiber, vice president at 3D Realms has hinted a few times in the past few months that a new first-person shooter, based on the Quake engine, is in the works with top talent from the Quake modding community brought in for the job. The company have now also hired Cyberpunk 2077's Senior Sound Designer Bjorn Jacobsen to work on the project.
The hint was dropped moments ago by Schreiber on Twitter, also mentioning how the Cyberpunk 2077 head writer had recently departed for Blizzard.
.@Blizzard_Ent snatched the head writer, so I guess we’ll have to live with the audio guy. I’m super excited to bring the Senior Sound Designer from Cyberpunk 2077 on board for @3DRealms’ unannounced quake-engine shooter! Welcome aboard @CujoSound !

As yet there's no other details about the new shooter, other than it'll be based on the Quake engine, but stay tuned to GameFront for more news on the project as it happens.
