4x Grand Strategy Game Pax Nova Early Access Released Today

By Digz 4 years ago, last updated 4 years ago

Developer Greywolf Entertainment and Indie Publisher Iceberg Interactive have announced their game Pax Nova is out today on Steam on Early Access. The game is set in a world where humanity is on the verge of failure, military conflict has progressed to such a stage that Earth is virtually uninhabitable, a communication from deep in the wilderness of space gives a glimmer of hope to start afresh in Eos.

The game itself is a turn-based 4X strategy game where you can select one of several factions from three races to play as. You build up your faction and see it grow in Eos against the other factions and races, explore new worlds to grow your empire and increase your influence within Eos through various means such as diplomacy or through war. Publishers, Iceberg Interactive release a gameplay reveal on YouTube which can you view below:

The key features of the game involve around expanding your civilisation into new worlds in the system, with each world being so different in terms of resources, other factions and civilisations as well as differing creatures and layouts, essentially no world is the same! Space presents its own dangers too, you can find pirates there, creatures that could either help you or block your progression in the system.

There are a total of 15 factions that have their own unique challenges and play styles that come with them, you can hear more about certain factions in the gameplay reveal video and also see some hints and tips in a new video released about starting off in the game below.

As you can see by the YouTube videos there is a diplomacy system and each faction has it's own political landscape that you either have to deal with or change gradually depending on your technology levels, faction traits and other events that will unfold within Eos that will affect your faction. The developers constantly talk about Eos's secrets and quests so there has to be something about Eos that whenever you look to expand, explore and progress in the system you will discover lots of unearthed opportunities or potentially disastrous news that could unravel your progress. There are of course unique victory conditions and full customisation of units and ships to really bring that feeling home of it being your faction, and you being in control - your leadership style you pick will also determine how you play your faction and don't forget the randomly generated tech tree so no one game is the same!

I know most of our readers are huge fan of sim games, city building games, strategy games, well here you have all of those in one game, Pax Nova. It seems a game that will continue to challenge you for a long time, and the replayability is endless due to the randomly generated tech trees, unique leadership styles and victory conditions and of course different paths in the Eos system to meet your victory objectives, this is a game we are certainly watching out for. If you're part of the Early Access Programme please share how you get on in the game with us and of course feedback to the developers is hugely important during this time, so make sure you post any feedback to them on their reddit page here and via their formal channels of feedback too.
