In what looks like a move to head off the upcoming GeForce RTX "Super" series announced this past week, AMD are already cutting the price of their RX 5700 series of cards, despite the fact they aren't actually out yet.

It's great to see that competition is proving beneficial for the consumer, with both sets of cards set to offer much better value for money.

The RX 5700 XT is now down to $399 from $449, a pretty significant saving, with the 50th anniversary version also down to the price point of the previous standard card, at $449.

The basic RX 5700 is now just $349, which is less of a discount, making the XT a pretty nice value for money right about now.

AMD didn't acknowledge directly that the new RTX Super cards were the reason for the price slashing, but they did say that;

AMD is focused on providing gamers with amazing experiences and access to the very best gaming technology at attractive price points. As you have seen, competition is heating up in the GPU market. We embrace competition, which drives innovation to the benefit of gamers. In that spirit, we are updating the pricing of our Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards.

So it's interesting times in the GPU realm right now, with July proving to be a pretty big month. Will you be team Red or Green, or will you be skipping this next wave of cards altogether? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
