Cataclysm is an upcoming event within Anthem that will take place on a brand new map, feature brand new game mechanics and will reward players for gaining high power scores, with leaderboards being one of the mechanics being introduced.

Leading up to the new event are some new pre-event challenges which are live right now. The new freeplay challenges, named "The Oncoming Storm", and will see players collecting crystals out in the game environments, completing new world events, or killing crystalized enemies.

It's not overly exciting, but it's suspected to be a nice lead in to Cataclysm. 

If all this is enough to save the troubled game, who knows? Anthem has suffered a never-ending list of difficulties since it's launch, and Bioware had to severely scale back it's post-launch roadmap as a result.
