It's no secret that Valve are about to reveal more details about their upcoming VR headset, named Valve Index, but there's some speculation doing the rounds that one of the VR games that may accompany the headset could be a VR focused Half-Life title.
Valve are aiming to start taking pre-orders and announce more by May 1st, which is tomorrow. Things are still quiet on that front, though, so that may be pushed back into the coming weeks, but according to PC Gamer, Valve are looking to start shipping units in June, which means they'll need to make their move soon.
Gabe Newell has also gone on record stating that the company are looking to launch "three full-size VR games" with the headset.
Now, according to UploadVR, an anonymous source stated that one of the upcoming VR games for the new headset would be a Half-Life prequel, while also stating that the leaked images circulating at the time were genuine - which did indeed turn out to be the case. Like always with these things, we can never be certain, and it could have been a lucky guess.
Even more interestingly, Valve News Network have found data within the recent Dota 2 update that makes inexplicable references to a shotgun and "hlvr" - which we would assume stands for Half-Life VR.
So it's difficult to say with any degree of certainty, especially where Valve in concerned, but given the strength of the Half-Life series, it would be an obvious franchise to use to strengthen the launch of this new VR headset.
Stay tuned to GameFront for more on the launch of Valve Index as it happens.
