Popular open-world sandbox game, ARK: Survival Evolved, will be getting official mod support for some of the most popular mods, basically making them a part of the base game.
Studio Wildcard confirmed that the mod "Primative+" will be officially coming to the game on July 28th to PC and Xbox One. The mod challenges the player to only use wood or stone in their constructions, without being able to use or take advantage of advanced metals. It also adds new mechanics to the game to make this achievable, and will add a particular emphasis on primitive survival.
The modding community has been thriving for ARK: Survival Evolved, and the easy mod-ability of the game, combined with good support from the developer, is a great thing to see. Hopefully we'll see more of this going forward.
Brand new content packs were also announced for the game; The Titanosaur, as the name suggest, is a giant dinosaur, essentially a giant fortress on legs. It's capable of carrying a large amount of weight, even entire structures, and although it's a herbivore, you definitely should think twice before approaching this monster.
A new biome, called Redwood Forest, is also coming to the game, which will introduce an environment filled with, well, a lot of trees; ideal for building that treehouse you always dreamed of.
Oh, and there's Primal Survival, a new content update that will let players live, breed and reproduce as any of the creatures within Ark. Players will be able to experience the full life cycle of these creatures including mating, growth, den/nest building, and even the ability to recruit more members to their pack.
While playing as a creature, players will be able to interact with other creatures, both human controlled and AI, and also interact with humans. Primal Survival has been created in conjunction with developer Instinct Games, and should be coming to PC and Xbox Ark players later this year.
