Studio Wildcard have announced full Steam Workshop support for dinosaur survival spin-off ARK: Survival of the Fittest, with both mod and custom map support, by re-integrating it back into ARK: Survival Evolved.
As of today, ARK: SotF has been re-integrated into it's originator, Ark: Survival Evolved. This allows the developer to be able to provide unlimited mod support via Steam Workshop, allow easier sharing of assets between Survival Evolved and Survival of the Fittest, and reduces restrictions that being a stand-alone game imposes.
We think that Steam Workshop support for Survival of the Fittest is a significant addition -- it's pretty much the most-requested feature for the game at the present time. We can now support unlimited modding with both games and modders have instant access to work with new content as it drops into either game.
Studio Wildcard are no strangers to mods: with a thriving community already creating mods for Survival Evolved (there are almost 4,000 mods now on Steam Workshop) - with some mods even making it into the base game, this can mean nothing but great things for Survival of the Fittest.
Originally designed as a mod for ARK: Survival Evolved, the competitive ARK: Survival of the Fittest is a multiplayer online survival arena (M.O.S.A.) game that pits as many as 72 combatants against one another in spontaneous Hunger Games-style competitions within a closed battlefield, where a continually shrinking “ring of death” will push survivors into an epic final showdown with only one “Tribe” making it out alive.
Survivors can form one-to six-person tribes with the option to choose Unofficial (PC-hosted) and Official (Ranked) servers, and a variety of game-lengths and sizes in which to play. Players will start in the base forest environment introduced in the original ARK: Survival Evolved, with new environments and creatures introduced regularly as the game evolves. Dedicated eSport ranking, matchmaking, and tournament features make ARK: Survival of the Fittest readily accessible to all players.
