Assassin's Creed Unity's servers are struggling following giveaway

By FileTrekker 4 years ago, last updated 4 years ago

It was a nice thing for Ubisoft to do when they announced that they would be pledging 500,000 euros towards the restoration of the Notre Dame following the devastating fire this week - but their decision to also make Assassin's Creed Unity available for free for the entire week, to allow people to continue to experience the majesty of the cathedral, has seemingly caused a few headaches for players.

The servers have had to be taken down maintenance during the last 24 hours, as demand was far outstripping supply, although as of writing they seem to be back online. Perhaps Ubisoft was adding more capacity, with surge in demand no doubt expected over this bank holiday weekend.

It's a nice gesture, and no doubt one that's worked out well for Ubisoft's marketing department, we must admit, but nonetheless, we recommend grabbing the game while it's going for free via Uplay / the Ubisoft Store.

Oh, and if you happened to be a poor, unfortunate soul who recently purchased the game, Ubisoft are even offering refunds for those who made their purchase after 2PM on April 15th. They're pretty cool guys, aren't they?
