Posted on November 27, 2013, Mike Sharkey Battlefield 4 on Xbox One Still Unplayable on Eve of Double XP Week
DICE’s full week of Battlefield 4 double XP is set to begin tomorrow, but it remains to be seen if the shooter will be patched and playable on next-gen consoles in time for players to take advantage of it.
Particularly on the Xbox One, Battlefield 4 is still a mess. Since launch, players have been experiencing, and continue to complain about a wide range of problems, including but not limited to:
While the PlayStation 4 suffered from nearly identical problems, it appears DICE tackled those first. Based on updates on the Battlefield Control Room, DICE pushed out two PS4 patches in the last week. Most recently, yesterday DICE updated Battlefield 4 on the PS4 to remove common crash problems, remove save corruption issues, and get rid of a bug related to PlayStation Plus that cause connection errors.
Hopefully that’s a sign that Xbox One patches aren’t far behind, but DICE has not updated us on Xbox One patch progress since studio boss Karl Magnus Troedsson posted an apology on the official Battlefield Blog on Friday, stating:
“Resolving the launch issues is our #1 priority. In fact, we are so serious that we have the entire team working to stabilize the game and we will not move on to other projects until we are sure that Battlefield 4 meets – and exceeds – your expectations. It is the right thing to do.”
Personally, I’ve been playing on PC and I experienced a huge jump in crashes shortly after the Xbox One launch on November 22. I basically gave up playing over the weekend because stability was so poor. DICE says a PC update is in the works, but there is no word yet on the release. Hopefully PC and Xbox One players won’t find themselves in the same hole we’re in when double XP begins tomorrow.
We’ll keep you posted.
