The author of Autumn Leaves, a popular Fallout: New Vegas mod, has accused Bethesda of lifting the story and progression of his mod for a quest in Fallout 4's "Far Harbour" DLC. In the article, the mod's maker, BaronVonChateau, details how a YouTuber made him aware of the similarities between the Brain Dead quest in Fallout 4, and Autumn Leaves.
He also shows comparisons between scenes in the DLC and his mod, pointing out key elements of both story lines and similar characters. He goes on to state that;
I honestly thought Bethesda’s staff played Autumn Leaves, had a blast with it (I hope) took some things out of it and made their own thing for Far Harbor. And I seriously think this is perfectly okay. After all, Autumn Leaves’ inspirations are countless (Asimov’s, Cluedo, Planescape : Torment, Arcanum, older Fallouts, etc.) and being influenced is a natural part of the writing process. The post goes on to ask whether mod makers should receive compensation or recognition if a developer uses their assets or ideas for their own profit.
