Uh oh - seems Bethesda is at it once again. Since last Tuesday, numerous east European Fallout: New Vegas owners have reported that their legitimately purchased game has been swapped for a heavily gimped version.
The swap, which appears to primarily affect eastern European countries, occurs automatically without the user's input. It switches out the standard Fallout: New Vegas, with a more restrictive Fallout: New Vegas RU.
Reddit user WadKnock reported that in Romania, the version was swapped and that the game's community page directs him to the Russian discussion boards. Similarly, Polish users are also directed to the Russian speaking boards when they try to use the community links.
There are some reports that these Russian versions of the games aren't as open to mods as their western counterparts.
Additionally, it does appear that other Bethesda published games are being swapped - including the critically acclaimed Dishonored. This could present a problem if the games lack English translations in those regions, as their users may not be able to play them effectively.
What are your thoughts on the matter? Is this a technical error, or is it part of an actual action by Bethesda to segregate their market?
