World of Warcraft is still the 800 pound gorilla in the MMO living room, sporting 11+ million subscribers. As such, it’s virtually guaranteed that the upcoming Cataclysm expansion is going to sell a ton of copies when it rolls out later this year.
As is usual for Blizzard, they’re trickling out teasers to keep everyone’s interest high in the upcoming content, so it was no surprise to see they’d detailed a new PvP battleground that will be available once Cataclysm launches.
Called Twin Peaks, the new battleground will pit ten Alliance players against a like number of Horde in a capture the flag battle within the Twilight Headlands. Much like the Warsong Gulch CTF battleground, each team will have a basically identical base at opposite sides of the battleground. However, that’s where the similarities end.
One interesting twist in Twin Peaks is that the terrain surrounding the bases is not symmetrical. Instead, each base will have unique terrain that will necessitate different approaches. In addition, to cut down on graveyard camping, Twin Peaks will include two graveyards for each faction.
There’s no word yet whether David Lynch was involved in the making of this Twin Peaks, but if you want to get all the lowdown on Blizzard’s newest war zone, you can head over to the official site
