Thanks to the inquisitive Gearbox Forums user IgnisSoul, it’s been brought to light that the father of Anthony Burch (the writer of Borderlands 2) makes a small, scribbly cameo in the action game’s second major DLC package.

Found in Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, you can discover this easter egg yourself, but you might not recognize it if you haven’t watched Anthony Burch’s other project, Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin’?, a webseries shown on GameTrailers. Get all the details, and a look at the man himself in all his glory, below.

Ash Burch’s Dad Rides a Unicorn Easter Egg

  • This mural can be found painted on Tiny Tina’s bus in the DLC “Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage”. The painting itself depicts an older gentleman riding a unicorn while sporting an eyepatch.
  • The man depicted is actually the father of Anthony and Ashley Burch. Ashley Burch provides the voice for the character Tiny Tina, while Anthony Burch is the writer of Borderlands 2.
  • In their off time, the pair write and film a webseries called “Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin’?” where their father makes multiple appearances.
  • The eyepatch is a reference to “Big Boss” of the Metal Gear Solid series, while the unicorn is a reference to another episode in which Ash plays “Sleep is Death”, in a game scenario designed by Anthony Burch.
