The highly anticipated open-world survival game Conan Exiles will have full support for mods, and will include both mod tools and Steam Workshop support when it ships later this month.
The game, under development by Funcom, is built in the Unreal Engine, and will include a custom version of the Unreal editing software to allow modders to create new monsters, weapons, and many other assets. The tools will also connect directly to Steam Workshop, allowing authors to easily upload their creations which will then be available from within the game.
The game also supports multiplayer mod support via custom hosted servers, as the game's Creative Director, Joel Bylos, explained;
The great thing about these games is that you can play them however you want, you can easily set up a server and play with your friends, and with our in-game controls you can simply adjust all aspects of your play experience to suit your playstyle whether that is turning off thirst, spawning a huge monster, or stop the day/night cycle. If you want to play all by yourself locally, you have access to the very same controls.An option will also be available to rent a server directly from the game's interface via PingPerfect, which can be configured to suit the host, giving you access to a powerful server control system which will allow you to alter the game experience through modding.
The game is due to be released on January 31st 2017.
