If there's one community that likes their classics, it's the Counter-Strike community. Indeed; for many years, people didn't consider Counter-Strike: Source to be a proper Counter-Strike game, and some still don't.
When Valve released Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2012, they did manage to recover a sizable chunk of their fanbase while bringing the old Half-Life mod back into the spotlight.
But for some, it just isn't enough. There are those that wish for a modern version of Counter-Strike 1.6, but doesn't quite agree with Global Offensive's rebalancing.
Well, they're possibly in luck. Modder Z00L has been hard at work on his Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive mod, and is ready with beta version 1.1c.
Classic Offensive seeks to merge - rather than replace - elements of Global Offensive and 1.6. It does this by building on top of Global Offensive, working with its original assets and some stats, adding in and replacing weapons wherever possible.
Though the mod is far from a perfect merge; due to certainly elements, such as recoil patterns and velocity, being hardcoded, it's not possible for Z00L to change Global Offensive into a perfect Classic Offensive. But it's damn close, nonetheless.
