Medieval murder-conspiracy simulator, Crusader Kings II, is no stranger to the odd mod. Whether you want to invade Europe as the Targaryens, or turn everyone into equines, there’s likely to be a mod for you.
Well, now you can add “re-invent history” to that list, too. It’s less of a mod, more of a tool. And don’t let the name “CK2 Generator” fool you, either. This is no simple mix-up that just re-assigns nation and country tags.
Basically the tool will generate, from scratch, a completely new history of humanity from its first exodus from Africa as a new mod to be playable in CK2 (and now optionally an entirely random map!). A random culture and pagan religion is formed (as in completely random, using all the parameters available for religions and cultures in CK2, as well as forming a unique language used to name characters, provinces, kingdoms, gods, religions.
So, what’s so special about the generator?
It’s unique in its attempts to create not only a new history, but a unique one at that, for Europe. Dynasties will be created, spread out, branched, destroyed - all things you’d expect from a realistic progression of history.
Personally, I find it quite impressive, and will certainly be giving this a closer look in the future. Paradox themselves have engineered a random generator for Europa Universalis IV, but it merely re-assigned some tags to different provinces. This, however, looks entirely unique.
