Cyberpunk 2077 may get small updates in the future according to game's director

While Cyberpunk 2077's massive Phanton Liberty DLC, and the subsequent 2.1 feature update, marked the official end of development for the game, director Gabe Amatangelo has suggested that they'll potentially return to the game if there's "something interesting the team wants to do."

Speaking to Friends Per Second, Amatangelo noted that while the team is moving onto The Witcher 4 and the sequel to Cyberpunk, the door is open for new ideas to be added in the future. “There might be some small things in the future,” Amatangelo said, adding that “it really comes down to how the focus is working on the sequel for Cyberpunk, and as opportunities present themselves, if there’s like a little something – a low-hanging fruit if you will, and someone on the team is passionate about it – we’re open to it. Who’s to say over the next couple of years, but nothing big.”

CD Projekt has a lot of irons in the fire right now, with a multiplayer Witcher game also in development alongside Witcher 4 and an entirely new IP also in the works, along with the sequel to Cyberpunk. There are still 17 developers assigned to Cyberpunk 2077, but it seems likely this is only for bug fixes and maintenance.

It seems the door is open for new additions to Cyberpunk in the future, though, and I'm personally there for it. What started out as a troubled but promising RPG has turned into one of the best games of the decade, and I'd personally love to see that momentum continue.
