This ambitious new mod by author Etienne Godbout, is a remastered version of Diablo II being built within StarCraft II, despite the fact that neither game have all that much in common, infact, barely anything.
But the excellent mod support for StarCraft II means it felt like the natural choice for Etienne's new mod, The Curse of Tristram. It was the only choice for modders to create content of that depth within a Blizzard game engine. The obvious issue, however, was the fact that fitting an action-RPG into a Real Time Strategy game is not the easiest of tasks.
Etienne GodboutTo be honest, the biggest challenge is not the coding, but the time required to make it happen. For the next couple weeks, I might be able to finish the last push for the beta, I still have no estimate for release, but I might be able to release the first few zones soon.
The mod has some other enhancements over the original game, such as Diablo II's skill synergy system, in which certain skills exist only to enhance the efficacy of others. There's also changes to the skill tree system, and players will find equipment and loot with specific skill builds.
Also included is new "mythic" gear, which combines random stats with unique items and bonuses.
