In an unexpected turn of events, it seems Disney is looking to revive Lucasfilm Games, with reports now coming in of LinkedIn postings looking for publishers roles, but more excitingly, game designers.
Lucasfilm Games was latterly known as LucasArts, and is responsible for a wide range of hugely popular Star Wars titles, many of which we cover here at GameFront such as Knights of the Old Republic and the Jedi Knight series.
It seems that the focus of the revived publishing arm / studio will be to "build the next great set of Star Wars and Lucasfilm heritage products", according to the job listings, and may be a sign of control of the Star Wars franchise either being taken away from EA, or for Disney themselves to have much more control over the products that are shipped.
While it's clear Disney are gearing up for a more hands-on approach, there's no word yet on what their exact plans are. Hopefully some remasters are in the pipeline, given the heritage phrasing, but time will tell.
In the mean time, the next Star Wars game, Jedi: Fallen Order, has some key KotR personnel working on the project, so hopefully the future is bright for Star Wars games.
