BANDAI NAMCO have announced that Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse 2 will get itself a "lite" version. Well what does that mean exactly? It's essentially a free version of the game that will be ready for you to download on Playstation 4 and Xbox one from 20th March which is this Wednesday. In a stunning announcement that will no doubt attract Dragon Ball Z fans who haven't yet played the game to other fighting platform gaming fans it presents a different strategic selling model than what we have seen for this genre. The press release referred to this being catered for less hardcore players of the game to test themselves and the game before they buy.
The lite version will include the following items:
Five story episodes for you to play from the actual game including ‘Raditz's Attack’ and ‘The Ginyu Force Strikes’.
Online battles and online quests where you can even play with those that have the full version of the game except online events and expert missions - you'll need to buy the full game for those.
Play Hero Colosseum mode with all content and online matches
If you choose to purchase the full game, you can transfer your saved data to the full game from the lite version you downloaded
Do you think that this is going to attract many new players and is a good way of getting more potential players in? It's certainly not a brand new concept but a try before you buy for a game of this style and genre is extremely interesting and I'm sure many other developers and publishers will be watching this space.
