Duke Nukem 3D will always have a place in history as one of the best shooters ever made - but there is no denying one thing, it's showing it's age a little.

Enter  modders Syndroid and NSKuber, who have decided to port the entire first episode of the game to Serious Sam 3, giving it much better visuals and a more modern engine in which the game can really shine.

The mod has made some changes to the original, though, with some redesigned areas and even new additions to levels, with new enemy waves, arena fights and even new weapons. The mod uses assets from the ill-fated Duke Nukem Forever to give the game higher quality audio and for new additions to the game.

One of the best parts of the mod is the fact that, if you own Serious Sam 3 VR edition, you can play through Duke Nukem 3D in virtual reality, something previously not possible.

The only downside is that the other two episodes are unlikely to ever make it to the game, as the mod creators state they are unable to do so due to limited time and resources to dedicated to the project.

Hopefully someone else picks up the batten, but in the mean time, you can get the mod from the Steam Workshop.
