A class-action lawsuit has been filed against EA by Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, a law firm based in San Francisco.

The lawsuit, which can be read in its entirety here  (and there’s a press release with cliff notes here), accuses EA of “…[issuing] materially false and misleading statements highlighting the purported strength of the Company’s rollout of version 4 of its all-important Battlefield video game series.” In other words: EA lied during and about the development of Battlefield 4. The lawsuit continues, saying “defendants issued strong fiscal 2014 financial guidance for the Company…[EA's] stock steadily climbed on these statements…allowing certain of Electronic Arts’ senior executives to sell their Electronic Arts stock at artificially inflated prices.”

The lawsuit lists several EA and DICE executives as defendants, including EA CEO Andrew Wilson, COO Peter Moore, CFO Blake Jorgensen, former EA Labels President Frank D. Gibeau (who now serves as the EVP of EA Mobile), and EA Studios EVP and DICE founder Patrick Söderlund. These executives allegedly sold over $13 million worth of “artificially inflated” stock

While the PC version of Battlefield 4 has been relatively stable, the Xbox One and PS4 versions are in rougher shape. The lawsuit specifically mentions the PS4 version and how users are “being subjected to multiple glitches and significant crashes when attempting to play Electronic Arts’ titles on PS4.”

There might be another lawsuit on the way, too, since Atlanta-based law firm Holzer Holzer & Fistel is investigating EA on similar grounds (we’re not sure if both firms are/were working on the same class action suit or not).
