If you paid any attention to the multitude of April Fool’s Day jokes this year, something called Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon might’ve caught your eye. It’s not a joke, but an actual “expansion” for Far Cry 3 that’s currently in development at Ubisoft.

The game was revealed ahead of schedule when the achievements leaked. On April 1, a website launched (seen here) resembling a mockery of a schlocky sci-fi movie from the 1980s “written and directed by Alexis Graveyard” with retro musical samples from Australian electro band Power Glove and a short trailer, seen below.

Here’s what the website has to say about the game’s plot:

“The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.”

Like Far Cry 3, you’ll have the option to find a series of collectible items—instead of drug recipes and old statues, you’ll find collectibles in the form of VHS tapes and TV sets this time around. You’ll also be able to level up to level 40, earn abilities, and upgrade your weapons in the form of attachments.

First screenshots of Blood Dragon have surfaced (seen below), depicting an actual game that looks nothing at all like Far Cry 3. If the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again, then Ubisoft clear to leave the madhouse for doing something completely different with Blood Dragon.

So to recap, here’s what we know about Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon:

  • It’s a first person shooter (no kidding)
  • It’s a standalone game that you’ll have to purchase separately. It does not require a copy of Far Cry 3.
  • It’s got a 1980s retro-futuristic theme
  • Like Far Cry 3, it’s set on an island
  • You play a military cyborg named Sergeant Rex Power Colt
  • The achievements were leaked
  • You can level up and gain new abilities
  • Weapons can be modified with attachments
  • There are dragons
