Fallout 76, Bethesda's newest entry into the Fallout Franchise will not be coming to Steam. Yet.
In a statement, Bethesda said the following: "The PC version of Fallout 76, for both the B.E.T.A. and the launch, will be available only via Bethesda.net, not on Steam.".
Pete Hines, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications at Bethesda also confirmed the news on Twitter.
It’s exclusive to Bnet: https://t.co/fUfUt8TTWP— Pete Hines (@DCDeacon) August 6, 2018
With Fallout 76 being another foray by Bethesda into online multiplayer, and with the amount of hype and media attention the game has garnered, it makes sense for Bethesda to try to get as many users as possible onto their Bethesda.net platform.
It also means that for one of the most anticipated releases in recent memory, Valve (owners of Steam) will not be receiving a piece of the revenue stream.
I'm sure, however, that Fallout 76 will only be a Bethesda.net exclusive for the first 6 months at the most, and then re-launch on Steam, like previous Bethesda.net exclusives such as Fallout Shelter.
What do you think? Will this help or hurt Bethesda's launch plans for Fallout 76? Will you get it on Bethesda.net or on Steam? Let us know in the comments down below.
