The mod, now known as Fallout: New California, is a total conversion fir New Vegas that serves as a prequel set between that game and Fallout 2, and it's now been given a new identity, as well as a nearing the end of it's development.
The mod is a total re-working of New Vegas, with all new assets and content. and is set sometime between Fallout 2 and New Vegas, with an all-new, original storyline.
The mod's author, Brendan Lee, says that the original name was never going to be the final one, saying it was a codename. Now that the New California name has been announced, he states it signals that development is nearing completion, with only finishing touches and bug fixes left to implement, with a closed Alpha version currently circulating amongst those close to the team.
The mod will be available from our friends over at ModDB, and will clock in at a rather hefty 6GB in size. While the final release date is not yet announced, stay tuned for further news and updates from the project as it's announced. In the mean time, you can follow their progress over on Facebook.
