Please wait...

Come one, come all! The chocobo races are in full motion, and Tony Stark is just about to race against Lord British! Or they would, rather, if Final Fantasy XV got a PC release. But that may not be as far off as some think.

Last year, Final Fantasy received its fifteenth numbered entry. Developed and published by Square Enix, the game saw its global release on November 29, receiving a simultaneous launch on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

It quickly soared in popularity, receiving high scores across the board. It may, however, have left a sore taste in the mouths of many PC gamers - once again, they were cheated out of an entry in the popular franchise, made to wait without confirmation on if they'll ever get to see it.

But thanks to a recent interview with Hajime Tabata that the Japanese magazine 'Weekly Famitsu' conducted, there may be cause for hope. Mr. Tabata seemed to be rather fond of the idea of a PC release.

“I’d like to release the game on PC as a technical attempt. I want to show PC users Final Fantasy XV running on high-end machines, and we personally would like to see it, too. Also, I would like to try developing on PC to pursue a unique way of playing with PC-exclusive features like making your own quests and enjoying the world using things like mods.”
What Mr. Tabata means specifically is anyone's guess. An integrated mod development platform akin to the Steam Workshop, or perhaps just a quest creator? Time will tell. It is, at least, a positive indicator.
