Formula 1 2019 Update - what we know so far

By Digz 5 years ago, last updated 5 years ago

With the F1 2019 game roughly a month away from release we thought we would give you an update on what we know so far and how the game the is progressing. The game is set for release much earlier than previous Formula One games have been with Codemasters, however this does not mean we have a lack of updates and this is just to ease up on the development cycle, far from it!

First up is the announcement of the "Legends" edition of the game where if you choose to purchase that version you can have the additional liveries of the Ferrari driven by Alain Prost and the McLaren driven by Ayrton Senna, alongside those two cars you gain an additional set of races that you can face off against either legend to claim victory for their sporting hero. These two legends fought like lions on the racetrack and now you can too! If you choose to pre-order to purchase the anniversary addition you'll receive two additional cars which are the 2010 Ferrari (pictured below) and the 2010 McLaren, the former driven by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa and the latter by Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

Codemasters have also announced that Formula 2 is going to be included in the game. One of the biggest requests from players all over the world was to have this series in there to build up your career into Formula One, then within it and for the first time we have that opportunity to do so. Codemasters said on the matter:

We’re also extremely excited to be bringing the FIA Formula 2 Championship to the franchise. It’s consistently been one of the most requested features from our community and it comes at a perfect time with the top three drivers from 2018 in George Russell, Lando Norris and Alexander Albon progressing to F1® for this season.

The theme of rivalry runs through the game with the addition of the Legends edition mentioned above, to now F2 being introduced, the developers want you to build those rivalries and relationships through the stages of your career and let your career mode have a wider feel to it to immerse yourself within the game. The game also has different cover art (if you buy the disc of course) depending on what country you are in, so for a UK and mostly global launch you will see Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton be on the cover, whereas if you are in Canada you will see Lance Stroll and Lewis Hamilton, in France you will see Charles LeClerc and Pierre Gasly, if you're in Australia you'll see Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton - a nice touch!

The game is available to pre-order now from many retailers, head on over to the Codemasters blog post here to check out some more screenshtos and where you can pre-order the game from.
