“From the File Vault” is a recurring feature on GameFront. Every week, we dig into our file archives and dust off a hidden gem for your downloading pleasure.

No, it’s not some kind of weird fetish porn. Dong Dong Never Die is a free Chinese game developed with the Tsukuru Fighter Maker program.

Picture Mortal Kombat’s full motion video characters with Street Fighter’s sprite “special effects” and the most ridiculous character lineup imaginable. I can’t read Mandarin/Cantonese, so I don’t know the characters’ actual names, but I’ve lovingly dubbed them the Mechanic, the Preacher, Afro Guy, Gas Mask Man, and, well, you get the picture.

It’s obvious this game doesn’t take itself seriously, and that’s part of the fun. Dong Dong Never Die features two dozen fighters with moves you’ll find familiar if you’re a fan of the genre. The twist is seeing real people in silly outfits duking it out as though they were Ryu and Sub-Zero.
