Skyrim doesn’t really do irony. This is an endearing quality, and it’s never more apparent than when you’re standing in a tavern, listening to a bard. Bethesda’s music directors penned some epic songs for the bards to sing, while hewing closely to what a medieval minstrel might actually have sounded like — no modern touches, just very literal lyrics and heavy lute action.
Enter Berklee-educated singer/composer Malukah. A life-long gamer, she saw the potential in “The Dragonborn Comes,” which can be heard in watering holes all over Skyrim. Re-imagining the tune as a haunting, reverb-tinged folk song (available for free download at the link above), Malukah used her crystal clear voice and arranging talents to create a viral hit, which is currently about to crack 11,000 26,200 views.
Put this on while you’re cruising around Skyrim, and you’ll soon feel your experience improve. Or use it a classy, eerie alternative to videos of trick archery, cursing mudcrabs, and deranged serial killers.
