You probably don't remember God Hand, but trust us when we say it's the perfect game to be blended together with Doom in this insane, fast-paced mashup mod.
For those not familiar with the franchise, God Hand is an action beat-em-up for the PS2, developed by Clover Studio and published by Capcom. The premise of the game follows a martial artist who uses his legendary "God hands" to take down the minions of an evil demon. It had some big names behind it, for example Resident Evil's game designer, Shinji Mikami. It's not a particularly well remembered game though, which is a shame, because it does have a cult following all of it's own.
It shares some similar motifs with Doom, though, in that both games involve destroying demons in rather brutal, yet intensely satisfying, ways.
This mashup mod brings the insane, fast-paced combat style of God Hand to Doom 2. The music of the game has also been revamped to be more in keeping with God Hand's rather eccentric, up-beat style, along with a new user interface.
As you can see, blazing through levels is not much of a problem, and the combat system is certainly a change from the gun-based game play that Doom is known for. It works, and works well, though, and serves to make the game feel like an entirely new, if not completely bizarre, experience.
Sadly the mod isn't out for download, yet, and will require the ZDoom port of Doom 2 to work, but if you enjoy these types of mashups, the mod author, Edy Pagaza, has some other insane mashup mods available on his website, including a cross-over mod between Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden.
