Rumours are now surfacing via Kotaku that the open world Star Wars game, codenamed Ragtag, and under development by EA Vancouver has been cancelled. It was originally under development by Visceral Games, but EA took over the project back in October 2017.
If true, it would mark the end of five years of troubled development for the project, originally spearheaded by developers Amy Hennig and Jade Raymond, both of whom have since departed EA and may be one of the catalysts behind the canning of the project.
EA had made a job listing early last year, stating they were looking for developers on a "Star Wars openw orld project" - EA's vice president Patrick Soderlund had also made mention of the project last year when he mentioned that although they were indeed working on Ragtag, that they were going to make it a "broader experience that allows for more variety".
EA have yet to make any official announcements on the situation, so until then we'll be keeping this in the rumor camp, but stay tuned to GameFront for any further developments.
