Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft has achieved 20 million players “worldwide.”
That, at least, is the claim of its developers at Blizzard who sent out a press release today confirming the game’s massive proliferation.
“Today, Hearthstone has reached another milestone: 20 million card-slingers worldwide,” said the company in a press release. “Thanks to all the players who made this possible and be on the lookout for Hearthstone coming to Android tablets and iOS/Android in the not so distant future.”
The company also made a point of pointing out just how rapidly the game has developed and expanded.
“It’s been just over six months since Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Blizzard’s first F2P and mobile game, invaded tavern tables worldwide,” said Blizzard. It would go on to highlight “milestones” such as the launch of its iPad port this past April, the release of its first single player DLC and the first qualifying matches of the Hearthstone World Championship. Hearthstone first launched back in March 2014.
