Killzone: Shadow Fall may be adding jetpacks to its multiplayer game.
That, at least, would seem to be the very clear message of a recent posting to the official Killzone Twitter account. The Tweet in question included a Vine video wherein a player in a Shadow Fall multiplayer participant dons what appears to be a jetpack similar to the one’s employed at points in Killzone 3. After equipping the jetpack, the player then leaps off the side of a building and the video ends.
In the bottom portion of the Vine video, there’s text promising a “big announcement” coming “this Friday.” The Tweet itself reads “We are ready, how about you?”
The inclusion of jetpacks is something that the game’s development team has discussed in the past. Director Steven Ter Heide discussed the possibility back in October 2013, prior to the game’s release.
“Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer will not have any vehicles (such as Exoskeletons or Jetpacks) at launch,” he said. “We wanted to ensure that player-created, custom Warzones work on all multiplayer maps, and the inclusion of vehicles would have introduced too many new variables and exceptions to guarantee this.”
With this in mind, it will be interesting to see just how far Guerilla goes in integrating jetpacks into the existing game. It’s more than possible that it will simply announce specialized maps built to accommodate them. That said, we can only imagine that the game’s fans would love to see them added in a more across-the-board fashion.
